I love that this is an amateur build by REAL people who don't feel the desire to have that pre-fabricated look! Great job you two!!! Love the bathroom... I have a 2006 shuttle bus that I'm building out, I just cut that giant empty bubble out of the fiberglass where you have your bathroom storage because I realized all the empty space was there. I love your layout so much I think I'm going to swap the positions of my bathroom and kitchen counter just like yours. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love that functionality supersedes form and aesthetics. They are more interested in the outdoors than the indoors but they seem to have everything they need. They are learning on the job, making do until something better comes along and they can tweak as they see the need. They made a good choice of vehicle too.

Such a sweet and sincere couple. What a great job the two of you did on this build. I love that you guys are enjoying van life and were able to also reuse and up cycle so many different materials (keeping them out of our landfills). Patrick- you’ve always made good videos, they’ve always been informative but man you’ve really grown (as a videographer and interviewer) a lot over the past couple of years. I am enjoying your more laid back approach, allowing the interviewees to tell you about their build and only speaking up if they’re going too fast or might be skipping important things. Then coming back at the end to ask some great questions. Great job my dude, good work.

I'm in no way a professional in any way however I do know a few in many different areas of construction. This is also NOT to put down or criticise this beautiful couple..... That being said, I just want to add a little CONSTRUCTIVE comments for them to correct & beware of for their safety. That bathroom as creative as it is might need to be checked & better sealed for water damage such as wiring & mold IF that's mold we see around the rope, wood, etc. I'd put a better coating once completely dried out. bleach would help with the mold but can damage the wood if not well sealed. Over all, they have great ideas. I sure hope it last a long time with many great memories to be had. Safe travels.

What a nice home! Lovely interior. Nice to see you are having such an adventure in it. Great memories. There are a couple of things I would fix: 1. Propane tank - cut a notch for the pipe coming out of the box. You don't want any compression on it or it could crack and leak. 2. Bathroom - I would get FRP panels for the bath area - Fiberglass Reinforced Panels. They come in colors and textures. This will make it waterproof. No matter how much you paint wood to seal it, it will leak in time. 3. The nylon straps around the super heavy water tank make me nervous. What about some metal straps that are stronger? Thanks for the tour. Lovely interior! Great job on reusing materials and keeping cost down. The build is impressive. I wonder what paint you used for the exterior - bedliner like Durabak or general automotive paint?

Don’t they need more protection around the gas cooler top? Unless the wooden counter top has been treated to make it fire proof. It’s always a good idea to have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket as well as a carbon monoxide and smoke detector. It’s not always the case that you would smell it so it’s not needed. If you’re asleep 💤 you could suffocate quickly. An alarm could give you those precious seconds that can determine life or death. I assume they can exit from the back in an emergency. It’s imperative there are at least two exits front and back. It’s nice to see a bus that is fitted cheaply. Lovely couple 😊
@sjackson994 жыл бұрын
On those rear doors that they spray foamed, if you put a piece of thin plastic film, like for food, on the spray foam and then close the door the foam will cure in the shape of the door and the film will prevent the foam from sticking to the door. Let it cure completely and then pull the extra film off. You can even follow up with a thin strip of door weather seal. If the gap isn't very big use a silicone sealant instead of spray foam. I've had great success using this technique on car doors to repair the seal.
