I am from Cardiff but grew up in Newport in the 90s back then it was rundown and in need of desperate investment. However, the city of Newport as it is now known has made major improvements it’s nice to see all the new restaurants and the lovely apartments popping up it’s about time to Newport had a makeover that has certainly happened beautiful city and wonderful people I have very fond memories of this wonderful place and most importantly the good people of this amazing city xxx

They put up a new shopping facade to cover the dying high street behind … now that facade itself is dying . Newport council painting a turd gold for years instead of actually doing something

My late soulmate was born & raised in Newport ,Wales !! Jon & I were childhood friends & boyfriend & girlfriend ! My 1st Westerner boyfriend .I am Japanese. I was his 1st crush . His grandfather Lawrence established his business at 17 ,he was a local celebrity at 16 as he was inspired & aspired by Chartist's movement, he was even featured in the local paper !! His place is still there after his & Jon's dad Norman's retirements ,called Masonic Banquet Hall. Located on Lower Dock street . My late soulmate was the original drummer of Feeder .Jonathan Henry Lee. I've been trying hard to reach Jon's dad .Things said about Jon's death was nothing to do with the truth. He was never even jealous of his wife .Jon never slapped any woman !! Thank you so much for this video !! I am gonna watch this again ! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

It's a city now since 2004 ,or so ! The town vibes won't go away as it's Wales !! The population is so low & even Cardiff looks like a town !! But,both are beautiful cities with lots of greens & wilderness still !! And I love their old buildings !!! 😍They just need some more improvements of some power wash / new paints / refurbishment & some renovations !! Slopes are looking challenging to walk on !!😅😆 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

You're right !! The streets are looking very clean !! Very nice !! Just up hills / down hills look very challenging. As I'll be pushing mom in her wheelchair there ,I wouldn't dare doing that on those slopes !! 😅👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

Yes ! It looks ...,but the populations there are so low !! They've got more sheep than people !! I like that way as the city & the country can remain cleaner & more organized. 😆💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

So many empty shops, and the ones that are there are all betting shops and bargain shops. Boyfriend grew up here but we moved away now as it was hard to find work.

It's been know as Newport since about the 1170's , its about time they started calling it Old port ! At about 21:35 as he crosses the bridge. Look to your right , this is where a wooden ship was found buried in the silt from the 1460's .

I grew up in Newport. Was fine when I was a boy. Town centre put under a lot of pressure by the homeless and drug using people that had no place to go and were tolerated by the council. Shame. Lots of buisnesses and job destroyed. Hope the place has a brighter future.

Well well, The watchmaker at bottom of Stow hill with Robert Gibbs name there, Lovely lad from Sullivan circle Ringland I think, went to Hartridge, and been in that watchmakers probably for over 40 years. I live overseas now. But Newport looks much rougher and dirtier and too many real estate signs. Says it all when I saw video of Newport recently and Cambrian road had a name change to Puke Alley.
