Another Easter Egg with John’s Shield is that the Medal of Honour being on the inside and inspiring him to fight back and be a hero, is a reference to how comic US Agent keeps a photo of his parents/family on the inside of his shield to remind him of why he became US Agent

did anyone else notice bucky's little pause after he saved the GRC members from the van and one of them said, "thank you for saving us"? there was a little moment of reflection before he said "you're welcome" almost as if he had to stop for a moment and take in the fact that he really did the saving this time, not the killing. like that profession of gratitude perhaps gave him the strength he needed to visit nakajima and tell him the truth. "your son was murdered by the winter soldier, and that was me... [but it's not me anymore, i don't take lives anymore, i save them.]"

I agree with Erik. I don't think it's fair to say that Bucky lost his war in World War 2 - He went there to serve his country and save lives - Something he did, just at a great cost. Much like real life soldiers who were fighting for what they believed to be the greater good, their service isn't a "loss" - It's far more complicated than that.
