If they must stream I hope it's still on a weekly release schedule. Dumping an entire season all at once does create a lot of buzz but it fades off quick. Keeping a schedule gives the fans a chance to fully digest and discuss each episode.

it's been proven that the binge model sucks in comparison to the weekly model. Nerdrotic and Jeremy (from Geeks and Gamers) had a convo about it that I had seen on YT. Pretty much with a weekly model, you're still circulating excitement, anticipation, attention, and engagement. Whereas with the binge model, you get all of those elements but they die off much quicker. More households tune into shows operating on a weekly mdoel. So i do hope that Daima operates on a weekly model

Jiren and the pride troopers as well as cabba, caulifla, kale, hit, frost and the whole universe 7 should have gotten their own spinoffs. At the least they should've gotten a one time special edition manga to give them a backstory. It's a huge miss that after developing so many characters in the t.o.p and the universe 6 vs 7 arcs that they never spun em into their own side stories. They created a plethora of new and wildly interesting characters and opened up all these new universes that seemed like they were about to open the world of dragon ball to explore beyond our beloved characters and known universe...but instead they fizzled out and all but disappeared without ever being brought up again. I really hope they bring them back one day in a more prominent role. Hopefully they're just holding out so it's that much more hyped up when they return

Curious if Geekdom dislikes modern Dragon Ball and is just covering it as a job. It's especially curious cuz I don't think I've ever recalled him acknowledge the fact that Dragon Ball is in rare air which leads to him leaving out the HUGE component that the franchise is super-successful. Modern Dragon Ball is extremely profitable and that leads to very predictable decisions. If you realize that Dragon Ball Super has been a global hit, then what these companies are doing should not be a surprise. I say all this cuz, USUALLY, people online who hate modern Dragon Ball absolutely refuse to admit that modern Dragon Ball is successful, despite how they feel about it. Dragon Ball is the cash cow that the company can always fall back on. We ain't in a drought cuz it sucks, we're in a drought cuz it makes more than enough money on what "little" it does put out. Thus, the company focuses on other titles to bring them up to Dragon Ball's level of profit. I'm not sure if it's a great strategy, but it's currently working and Akio Iyoko foresees that Dragon Ball can make even more money if it's more active. Essentially, Dragon Ball is on level 10 and the rest of the titles are on 5. They're focused on bringing those titles to level 10, too. Iyoko believes Dragon Ball can reach even higher levels. Dragon Ball is so big it needs to separate to continue. Which is what I've said for almost a decade. And it's finally happening.

Basically what pretty much is gonna happen imo is they will create an anime series of Daima (for anime fans) and the manga will keep going (for the manga fans) once the manga reaches enough source material that they think they can draw from it will do a switch (Daima may or may not be fully done by then) but regardless they will do a switch and Dragon Ball Super will be the new anime, and Daima will be the manga side of things. Also they are drawing ideas from GT like the kid concept, so who knows what else they will use here.

36:04 I'm going to add more to this one that's not counting the obvious with Dragon Ball Heroes. -Sailor Moon Crystal's first two seasons premiered on Niconico with a TV broadcast run almost a year later. -Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold premiered on Bandai Channel with a TV broadcast run over a year later. -Saint Seiya: Saintia Sho premiered on Amazon Prime and PlayStation Network through Animax Japan. -The Saint Seiya CG reboot's first season was on Netflix but then it popped up on other streaming services in Japan two years ago and then came season two, Battle of Sanctuary, which was exclusive to those same streaming services (along with Hulu Japan) with Crunchyroll streaming it everywhere else and the same can be expected of it's sequel that's set to premiere this year. The only more recent counter to all of this is with Akuma-kun's 2023 reboot and the upcoming One Piece reboot but then again, Netflix was never announced as involved with Daima from the start compared to those two and CG Seiya.

Personally, I liked Super and not sure what you're talking about regarding ruining the character (if you mean the manga, I kinda get that). The main thing that Akio is saying is that there will be more Dragon Ball unlike how things have been the last number of years. As to what the quality will be, it's hard to say. The anime seems to have been handling characters better than the manga so it's possible it's mainly a Shueisha exec thing, but we'll see. I think that Daima sounds like it should be good given Toriyama's role in production. As far as after that, I remain hopeful, but we really don't know anything yet.

@@seandobbins2231 I'm sorry but I disagree. master roshi's character arc from og dragon ball was completely undone, he rarely shows himself as the genuine wise elder he was originally he's mostly just a pervert now and even borderline rapist with how he raped puar and forcefully grabbed yurin he never used his real strength on women in the original show showing his true nature. also it's a massive logic problem and disrespectful to tien and yamcha's characters. they at least tried to save the world all throughout even z where the were irrelevant and master roshi did literally nothing in z now he's coming out to fight, is somehow stronger than all the humans besides krillin I think but the anime made it unclear. I hate master roshi in super I thought yamcha was handled bad tien even but roshi got it worse than anyone. it's cool to see him fight but they just undid his arc like it was nothing without any story or context he just comes out of retirement and I see well I'll keep my hopes up.

Also, in later Dragon Ball (or DBZ for the anime) he wasn't showing himself as the wise old master either, as he had less wisdom to give in those situations. Now, in the ToP we saw quite a bit of him being the old mentor again. Was the perversion with Puar and Yurin pretty bad? Sure, but let's not pretend that he wasn't incredibly perverted much earlier as well. Perhaps it makes you uncomfortable, but it's not really untrue to his character and he actually overcame that problem for the ToP so I hardly think that his character was ruined. In regards to how powerful he became, we honestly don't know, but I wouldn't get too upset over the Ten episode because there are any number of explanations. That said, who knows how much he's been training all this time? Even then, we see in the ToP that it wasn't power that allowed him to excel, but his wisdom and experience, and Ten and Krillin got their moments too. Yamcha was handled like he's been handled since the Saiyan arc so not a new issue and Toriyama himself never really gave Yamcha any [good] breaks. The best Yamcha was ever treated was when he fought Goku and even then the ending of that fight still made him look like a joke. I'd also like to point out that Master Roshi never really had his own character arc in the original manga, as he was always just a support character for other characters who had their arcs. He almost had one in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, but everything was just for the sake of Goku and Ten. Master Roshi finally had a character arc in the ToP, allowing him to finally address his issues and for a final time lend his wisdom and expertise. But it's not for everyone, I suppose. Anyway, we'll see how things go and I'm optimistic.

He didn’t design Cell Max or Gohan Beast. Toriyama designed those forms. All he told Toriyama was to add Gohan to the movie. And Daima wasn’t his idea. Toriyama has already said that Daima was his own idea and that it’s a project that he’s been passionate about. He wants to go back to the old days of DB when fights weren’t high stakes.

He said before that whenever he would move on to the next arc he was constantly thinking of ways of how the next villain would be more intimidating than the last. U can’t just go from Vegeta who’s a planet buster to a villain that is a city buster. It ruined the series for him
