Doesn't even have to be current story/arc. Let you can do 1-2 episodes during moro to set up granola. All the off screen training Gohan has done etc

Not all of us hate filler, it just depends on the execution. OG DragonBall had amazing filler, because it was entertaining while giving characters growth at the same time. Some of it related to the main story, but they weren't dependent on either/or, so it was free for wacky jokes or having holes in the plot

Still filler may only last a couple episodes. There's not enough meat on the bone yet for Super. I think it's smart to wait because people would hate to have granola and moro rehashed so quickly. Maybe 2 years from now super should be ready.

Now this makes a TON of sense and I kinda think this approach to Super is a much safer one if seasonal is not an option. Having more arcs to adapt makes it easier since there isn't a need to pad out episodes as much and with a better schedule the animation will be better too. This also means toyotaro has even more control over Super since they're adapting the Manga vs Toryiama's note sheets and winging it. For the most part I think the manga has better writing than the anime so this is a plus for me.

My thought process with Shueisha is that if they wanted the manga to go further along with more stories before bringing it back in anime form, then why are they seemingly wasting time with retelling DBS: Super Hero? I think it's mostly because Gohan and Piccolo got new forms, they don't wanna leave anything "off screen" so to speak. But honestly, I wouldn't mind if instead of making an anime series they just do each arc as a two hour movie. Might be a little compressed or something cut here and there but it seems doable.

Because they think people will go buy the chapters to see the differences between it and the anime or just for collecting purposes, and also because new fans will go back and buy chapters to catch up to the story. Unfortunately, Japanese fans do stuff like that. So Shueisha can stuff their wallets with more money by exploiting the manga system. Honestly what a great and informative video. This is one of the reasons why I always trusted you as being my only Dragonball KZbinr that I watch and follow for Dragonball news. You only state facts and make it very clear when something is just an opinion or prediction. This video helped clear some of the uncertainty and confusion I’ve had for a while now about why Super hasn’t came back. At the end of the day from a business standpoint, it makes sense and we all just need to understand that’s how it works. I’m glad we will at least have new content with the manga and this new show. So hopefully it will be enough for the DB community to keep us engaged until Super does come back one day. Even if it doesn’t I will be satisfied with what we got.

I wouldn't say he has always "stated the facts and made sure what was just opinion and speculation". There was a long period where he made increasingly speculative videos about Super's return. I'm not talking about when he said Super was being produced in 2019, I believe he has genuine and either was being misinformed or plans changed. He has had tons of videos citing various rumors, social media posts, interviews etc as proof that Super's return was imminent, only for it to turn out that the source wasn't talking about Super, or it was a mistranslation, or the source was just speculating themselves THIS video is informative and I have nothing bad to say about it, and in general he has taken a more levelheaded tone and stopped the wild speculations, but that wasn't always the case

I agree with the concerns about the voice actors and actresses ages. Many of them have been around since the mid to late 80s as adults and they won't be able to do this and/or be around forever. Bulma's Japanese voice actress is a good example of this.

I agree, 100%. They should at least consider having understudies for each of the Japanese voice actors that have been doing this for a while. At least in America if you’re a voice actor, they have an understudy, sometimes even more than one ready and available to voice match, when and if necessary. Look at the various voice actors who have portrayed various Looney Tunes characters over the years just as one example.

1. That Digimon show ended months ago 2. There's a little over 50 weeks in a year so if you count holidays, 50 episodes is more than enough for a full year of weekly television.

If Shueshia wanted more time, couldn't they have said to Toei to first adapt the Broly movie into the anime like they did with BoG and Resurrection F? Maybe adding all those things they didn't manage to include in the movie itself. They could even have a Jaco arc where you have Jaco retelling the adventures from his own manga to pad time. Also, they should honestly move the manga from being monthly to be twice a month in my opinion.

Digimon Adventure: Colon ended in September 2021, with the timeslot being replaced by Digimon Ghost Game. Then Ghost Game ended March 2023, Toei replacing it with the anime Run For Money: The Great Mission, which is still airing with no confirmed ending. I think they learned their mistakes at fillers during DB and DBZ runs that drag-out and further declined the series, so they didn't want to make 1 or 2 long filler arcs with inferior quality.

@@j04370859 I did think so too, but when I think about why the movies were remake, the Broly movie would be the least necessary to remake, as that movie was written with TOP all planned out. BOG was written before DBS was even considered, so a lot of ideas there are outdated. ROF is kinda a special case, as DBS was in production mid-way the movie production, so a lot of DBS ideas should already be considered by then. It's possible they couldn't cut Golden Frieza arc as without it, his reappearance in TOP arc would be out of nowhere. Then again, nothing should stop them from reusing the film footage for DBS and then edited it for expansion scenes, so I'm not too sure. Super Hero was written before Moro arc even finished, so there's an obvious need to remake some of the dialogues there.

I was just happy to experience DBZ as it was actually being broadcast in Japan. Masako Nozawa is 87 years old Akira Toriyama is 68. The likeliness of much more DB happening in general is coming to a end. The manga can continue, but not sure how the animation would work if The main voice actor and the author pass away.

its easy to add "filler" that helps the story a lot of the filler in the original run of Z was able to help move the plot along, they added extra scenes or they added more context, they added extra training, something that helped to impact the length of the episode or arc, with moro thats super easy, we can have episodes split between goku and vegeta training then have it flip to earth to show the rest of the Z fighters training for the coming battle, it would add to the context of them training and show just how difficult it was for goku and vegeta to gain the power that they did, in the granola arc, they can show more of vegeta and beerus training add more details to beerus wanting planet vegeta destroyed and more importantly they can show goku and whis training as well. they can also show vegeta maybe discovering the power of ultra ego, and of course they can extend some of the fights a little bit, they can add more dialougue to extend context to certain scenes, they can make that work very easily, they can easily make 100 episodes out of those 2 arcs just by adding a little bit of extra details, of course they can show mooro eating planets, they can show buu reawakening the power of the grand supreme kai, maybe having Shin meet his old master again theirs a lot to play with that the manga didnt do because it's main focus is the story but with an anime they can add details that will enhance that story and increase the impact of certain scenes,

Great informative video Geekdom! As someone whose been starved for new Dragonball content, I’m actually super hyped for DB Daima and how it’s going to connect to the rest of the DB verse. Ever since they switched the animation styles for SDBH, that’s just not going to cut it anymore. My question concerning Super’s adaption is that if Shueisha was really concerned about having enough manga content to adapt into an anime, why even waste time retelling DBS:SH in VJump? If that was really the case, we’d be getting a new arc, not a retelling of something we’ve already seen. I could understand if Super was released weekly or even bi-weekly, but with it being month to month, we probably won’t get a new arc until the spring, maybe even the summer of next year. Also, why isn’t adapting the Super arcs into movies on the table as an option? DBS: Broly proved by breaking box office records for anime movies that if you give the fans what they want, and do it right, the content is going to sell. I don’t understand Shuiesha’s logic if they really are to blame for super not coming back, but I’m still hyped for Daima nonetheless. As you stated, the voice actors aren’t getting any younger and Nozawa is so synonymous not just with Goku but DB in general, that I honestly don’t think she can be replaced. I pray she can keep her health while Shuiesha drags their feet because if she were to pass (knock on wood), we might not ever get those arcs adapted.

Call me crazy, but I think Daima, similar to DBZ Kai, is a way to get the younger generation involved. I found dbz when Kai aired, I was in elementary school at the time. It got me into the show hard and really tugged at my roots early. Now I'm out of college, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are making Daima for the same reason, to get kids that are now elementary students into Dragon Ball. Looking at it this way, it makes perfect sense that Goku and Vegeta have become kids. Relatability. It's a way to get the next generation involved, just like they did my generation with Kai. They're playing the long game. As Beerus said in Resurrection F, "tactically, it was a genius move.".

I believe this all stems when Dragon Ball came back on tv in anime form way back in 2016 or 2017. The mistake in my opinion, is that they didn't start off with the manga. If they did that then Super would have had enough material to work with instead of the other way round, where they're waiting for the manga to come up with new stories. It's a shame but at the same time, I think this is a blessing, at least this time whenever Super comes back we hope it's not rushed. I'm looking forward to Daima I believe this was a smart move and I think if portrays a good story while looking this good like in the trailer then I'm sold.

At This rate, we’re looking at 2030. With how long it’s taken Toyotaro to wrap up the Super Hero arc in the Manga, it’ll take a few more years before Shueisha feels they have enough content to animate a new series. So maybe by 2026, we’ll have sufficient content. Then the Animation process begins, then the editing process, voice acting, music, etc. I’m not expecting a new series until at least 2030 if geekdom’s words are accurate.

There are 52 weeks in a year. That means if Fuji TV and Shueisha believe they need a minimum 2 years worth of DB episodes they will need 104 episodes. For most anime, at minimum 2 manga chapters typically correspond to 1 anime episode. This means, counting from the start of the Moro arc, there needs to be minimum 208 manga chapters published before Toei start adapting the manga. That would be a wait of four years if the manga was released weekly but since it is monthly it is actually closer to 17.3 years. Since the Moro arc began in 2018 that means we ONLY have 12+ years left before DB Super returns guys. Presuming the manga never ever skips a month of course

Worse yet, Vegeta faces Granolah and did the same thing. 42 pages of stalling in regular form until getting serious at the end of the chapter. Wait for the following month. Thats 5 months, 210+ pages of characters stalling before getting serious. Weekly Manga gives you the content of a 42 page monthly chapter in just 16 pages. A well paced anime episode covers 2-3 chapters. DBS as monthly manga just enables bad pacing.

DragonBall Super was 131 episodes. First 2 arcs were recapping 2 movies. Universe 6 vs 6 exhibition, goku black and then T.O.P arc came out. So far, all we have is moro, granolah and superhero. I'm guessing we won't get DBS until 2025 when 2 more arcs release.

Thank you for the video. This all makes perfect sense to me and all the pieces were already there to put together with logic. I think the best solution would be to get the next Super manga arc as a bi weekly series in Weekly Jump. Toyotaro’s never don’t that but I think he would be excited to try. If the Suoer anime starts with an extended Broly movie recut for like 6 tv episodes and the. Leads right into Moro with about 30 episodes that and so on, I think we could satisfy Fuji TV in 2025

Honestly, ideally, a good direction to go with this in regards to potentially introducing SSJ4 would be if Goku and Vegeta wished for everyone else to be turned back besides them, and they could train in a hyperbolic time dimension until they were they're original adult forms, similar to what Frieza did but in a way, that would help them scale to that higher level, IMO

I’m used to these lengthy breaks between seasons for other anime. Some, like ONE PUNCH MAN and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure can be a few years (OPM feels longer…season 3 was confirmed but still nowhere near being revealed and that info’s going on a year now). Others release yearly or every two years such as Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen. My problem with waits though is just the mortality we all deal with. Before we know it we’re gone…could be an accident, some crazed psycho shooting up a Walmart or a health problem (including disease). I can’t even begin to imagine how many hardcore Dragonball fans never even finished DBZ let alone the original Dragonball before it was their time. Some never made it to Super…and some passed during/after the anime finished. I want these things to come out all the time so that there’s more chances for everyone to catch them…years between just pushes those episodes beyond some people’s final days. I know I’m being dark but that’s depression for you. I may not even be around by the time Dragon Ball Daima drops let alone the continuation of Super…death is such a familiar visitor that I know better than to expect reaching old age. Besides…I do have some health problems doctors can’t explain…always a good sign, huh? At least my son can continue watching this series as he grows older…and maybe he can share that with his kids if he has em.
