I just wish they commited to it ffs. We are doing this like three times now where The game launches doesn't performed as well as they want and they wind down the development, realize the game as a seriously great community that supports them they work on expansion, don't do a great job players dip they wind down the development realize community is great work on Odyssey that comes out broken players leave wind down the development and now we're back here again. Just commit to it and put full force behind it. It could be amazing game.

What I would like to see? NPC's that can sit on all the unused seats of my ship, and do useful stuff there - gunner, fighter pilot, repair guy (taking over the use of the AFMU and repair drones without need for further interaction).

What I would like to see ? Powerplay uniforms, unique uniforms or looks given at a certain level of merit and according your rank. Uniforms you could only keep if you stay in the faction. Imperial uniforms with multiple buttons and gold strings, black leather mob looks for pirates, etc...

Colonisation is looking like a great start. I'd love to see the option for a collection of "colony bootstrapping" modules for fleetcarriers so we can wander out into the black and seed colonies whereever we choose. Still putting in the effort by mining raw mats and having the bootstraping modules produce the actual materials needed by the colony to build the infrastructure.

this would be absolutely amazing, me and my squadron rely on our carriers as a home, it would be great to fly them out to a cluster of systems I personally discovered to stake our claims out there and build a little cluster for our squadron to protect, i like being nomadic but FDEV allowing us to form our own little bubbles branched out from the main one would be awsome!

I wish, if it happened I would be able to colonise my home system, which is a very *very* long way away from the bubble and not exactly on the beaten track. I don't think that's what they'll do though, I rather think it will be like the original Colonia jump. So seed ships will jump to pre decided points in the galaxy and that will be used as a starting point for new bubbles, this way FDev can control the narrative a bit, letting colonisation play out broadly how they intend while still giving the players agency.

I hope that settlement range goes up to 20ly. It would be in line with the powerplay influence range, and a slightly more meaningful hop away from the edge of the bubble while also not easily enabling colonization of nebulas or guardian systems, or other POIs.

What I would love to see is more atmospheric planets we could land on, like earth-likes and other planets with actual atmospheres. They could do a weather system, biomes and some simple plant life for now. Also some more content for exploration in general, like improving black hole looks and maybe even new phenomena like quasars

There aren't actually any quasars currently active in the Milky Way. Scientists believe Sag A* used to be an active quasar when our galaxy was young, but without a sufficient amount of star material to suck in, there isn't enough energy to create a jet cone of that magnitude.

20% Thicker atmospheres and more realistic things like black holes accretion discs I think are reasonable to want in the current game engine - any more than that would require it able to handle weather and bodies of water and more complex creatures... none of that is happening any time soon.

I’d love if we could send colony ships literally anywhere, only making them more dependent on external shipments of goods the more remote they are from other colonies. Let us make mini-bubbles half a galaxy away as long as there’s seven or eight systems linked together to provide each other what the others produce. Unwed it from powerplay.

I'm so glad to hear that colonisation will be doable by solo players. That was something I was concerned about when they first announced. I'm an explorer at heart in the game, and it will be so wonderful to have a reason to get out into the inky void again. I haven't watched the stream yet, so I don't know if this was mentioned, but it would be great if we could access a list of systems we discovered and/or explored, so we could go back and build colonies there. It would be easier and quicker than checking every system on the map for our names.

One thing that could be cool is assigning trained up Elite NPC pilots that we have put millions to billions of credits into, becoming available to assign to the new system's NPC system defence fleets, with their name being on random system defence ships and a slight boost to overall base system security because of their skill level.

What I’d like to see? The ability to build your own base inside an asteroid. So it would be like a fleet carrier but not be able to move. To find it you’d need to be given a location by a player or you could find it by accidentally coming across it in an asteroid field. It wouldn’t be able to be destroyed by others; but maybe able to be plundered to some minor level; although not sure how that might work.

I don't really want to reveal where I want to colonize just in case they change their mind, but let's just say it will be impossible to reach if the colonization range is only 10 light years. Hell it will probably be impossible with a 50 light year range on colonization. Which is pretty silly considering rackham's peak is a thing

The one thing that I've wanted before I come back... is simply a VR camera for the FPS module. That's all. Don't need hand tracking, normal mouse+keyboard or gamepad controlls is fine. I just want head tracking and depth perception. It works in the 3rd person camera while on foot... so why not in first person?

I think the long game here is to build up systems players have a vested interest in defending when the next alien threat arrives. Which is why they are keeping it on a short leash. I hope they mix it up and make a guardian remnant or something the next AX threat.

Подсчитано что тому количеству игроков что есть сейчас потребуется 50 тысяч!!! Реальных лет чтоб обследовать всю галактику в игре. Представь сколько времени нужно чтоб ее застроить. Я думаю если и будет застройка, то это будет ввиде линий либо пузырьков. И на отсутствие места для исследований думаю это никак не повлияет. Awesome update! It would be cool for explorers to get updates to designs of planets, bringing the textures up to date with some of the more current space images, such as the images from NASA's JUNO. Also the Titan explosion got me thinking how cool it would be to witness a supernova in real time in the game!

I've been saying we should get a thargoid shield. It could charge up like an SCB and decay over time. Probably stronger than a standard shield with limited uses. Would be fun for hull tanks.

I dont really mind the whole 10ly range for expansion but it would always be nice to be extended, i think the main concern is the fact that for player factions it will be almost unachieveable unless you are located on the outer rim of the bubble. It would be great if you had an outward cone from the bubble to expand from that reaches to the end of the bubble or something along those lines to give all pmf's a fair chance to expand their factions.

I know it's one of those "brace to get things thrown at you" things, but I would absolutely LOVE to see the ability to walk around our ships come to Elite Dangerous in 2025, even if they just start it with one ship or something - I genuinely do believe the opportunities for more immersive gameplay for the player base, and monetisation options for ship interior customisation that it would present FDev, would be a boon to both sides of the fence and, if players don't fancy it, FDev could simply introduce a bypass that lets you "quick board/exit" your ship, replicating the game feature set as it stands right now. Thank you Cmdr Burr for your continued, awesome coverage of a game that I have come to fall in love with - you never let us down, and like you, I can't wait to see how 2025 turns out ! No I would rather that they make a generic /small/medium/large interior that gets put into a ship based on its' size as long as it isn't just a cockpit sized ship like the eagle. This way every ship gets one THEN they can go and edit them from there if they would but instead they would just use those 3 as foundations for more aesthetic microtransactions but at least we would have interiors. It would take FDEV another 10 years to add a interior to every ship individually at the rate they fund ED so we just simply wouldn't get what we want ED is like their 3rd or 2nd most successful game but you'd never know it based on how much money they put back into it compared to their other games.

"this is a stock *Faulcon DeLacy* ship interior", and then from there you'd only really need some base differentiation between the major functions of each area (this is a cargo storage area) ... (this is an engineering area) ... that kinda thing. I think people are assuming that it has to be this incredibly detailed thing, and it's like ... yeah that would be amazing ! But realistically ? Just give us *something* to start with, and build up from there if you have time and resources to do so =] Well said @Medieval1-1 =] What kinda puzzles me is people complain about how much extra work it is, but FDev have already given us the ability to get out of our ships and walk around countless planets and settlements with all the hard work *that* entailed - we just need essentially an instanced set of rooms (or in smaller ships not even that) to create that additional immersion so many of us would love to see, AND it would help put Elite: Dangerous' competitors back a bit, as when people compare Elite: Dangerous with other titles, we don't *really* have much we can offer to compete in that space. Being able to buy a module that would let you dock with a stranded ship and bring over the parts needed to repair it...or steal it...or salvage parts....or have actual modules that need repairs on your ship and a reason for an engineer crew member....etc....etc....etc.....Just being able to make a "home" on your ship as you roam the galaxy....so much i want this...

My only concern about colonization as of now, is that 10ly movement. I feel like we should be able to jump a little further out than 10ly from colonized systems, seeing as a bridge to Colonia is very much a project that will happen... 20-22k in 10ly increments will be .... a lot of needless stations added to the game, I feel like putting a station every 50-100ly would be just fine as most ships can make at least that far on a tank of fuel. I don't want a Sidewinder to be able to jump to Colonia, but I do want rest stops every so often between the bubble and Colonia. I also feel like maybe a midway station between bubble and Robigo would be a great idea, like take what the standard Robigo runner can do range wise and throw stops in just short of that range so people looking to get started in Robigo can go out there with full cabins and no Fuel Scoop.

honestly 20LY would be right on the money. Most transports (probably the biggest hurdle to establishing a colony will be getting the materials to it) Will top out in jump range right around there fully laden with a level 3 eng drive. 20LY would also let you bypass systems more effectively than 10LY jumps would, addressing your concern about needless stations.

I’m pleased with this news it’s far beyond what i imagined base building to be like the range don’t bother me it’s still going to be far enough off I’m 200ly away from home so incremental expansion seems realistic enough to setup trade routes etc. This community will be making the bubble huge by the time we all get tucked in so give it time. The cost implication was my biggest concern cause i still don’t have enough for a fleet carrier after all this time so at least it sounds like it’s more obtainable.

I would like to see something like SimCity in space. I’d also like to see some non-lethal weapons, powerful enough to take out a guard but not necessarily lethal. This would mean that if the mission is not completed in due time, those guards who have been stunned but not killed will be once again ready for action.

I would like to see them address some of their technical debt, fix broken features like bartender trading that have been broken for months, and keep working on the new power play instead of just keeping dumping in new half baked features that never quite work properly.

Colonisation is such a huge feature with potentially many nany spin offs (race tracks people, if we are ever going to get race tracks this is when we will get them) I suspect most of the year will be building it out and fully integrating it with all other aspects of the game and getting it to work. But I do hope we see some work toward procedural generation of life in the galaxy, May be a new atmospheric world type, gas giants would be stupidly cool to fly around in PC2 lighting tech ported over. Last year we got some new ships, this year some new land vehicles, how about some cool mechs or body armour.

I really want full ship interiors. I wanna be able to walk around with my friends inside the ships. I wanna be able to take off with other players inside whether or not they're seated and buckled in. They do need to make sure they have content for solo players. I generally never play PvP due to the lack of reasonable punishment for griefers, so it ends up being encouraged. But this might be the exception.

Something to make trading more interesting would be great. Maybe high value goods where you're not so much doing a trade loop. Maybe some of the best high value trade spots are places where you can only land a small ship. More things good for small ships would be neat. More things for my in game wingman to do would be nice. Uh a ship rebalance, oh and and damn aliens walking around in my space game! P.s. expanding a little on exobiology and adding more interesting things you can stumble across on planets while exploring!.

With 5K or so players and what a 10 LY max range from the bubble systems; how the heck are we supposed to find a "Unclaimed" colony system or planet and not run into system after system that has already been claimed? This seems like "finding a specific needle in a stack of needles" kind of waste of time to me. I would like to just find ONE and ONLY ONE system to colonize and that's it. I have a bad feeling that there will be those few Obsessive/Compulsive types that will be obsessed with claiming as many systems as possible on day one!

Colonisation will be fantastic, if somewhat grindy. I'm hoping the remaining fixes around PP 2.0 dont slip off the priority list though. Rares, broken trade merit gain, still broken bartenders and so on. It's been a few weeks and no word. Not before new year is on us obviously but still... Too many years here to not be wary of tnbt trashing hopes of fixes

Can you name the system? Are there any perks beyond mere credit for colonizing, like buying commodities at cost or discounts on ships, ways to earn passive credits, etc?

I HIGHLY doubt we'll be able to name the star system itself. Stations and settlements, more likely. Unless you really want to see 300 systems named "Tatooine" or "Romulus" after the first month. They already have a system for randomly naming stations too, so even that I wouldn't put money on.

i would like to see a feature rework for fleetcarriers. They are pretty cumbersume to use and if you dont use it its an endless moneypit. Traveltimes are to high, there is no rout planning ingame and you need to babysit it since your very expensive fuel crew cant refuel from onboard storage.

The jump times have been only 15 minutes for me, idk about you. No route planning in game yes, just like the regular plotter has limits for a reason. It wouldn't work. There's this thing called Spansh and you can use it to plot bookmarks for your jumps.

@@tacticalmattress 45 min to 1h 15 min ,unless you jump at 3 am than its 15 min. Yes there is no inagme routing since the code for fc ist stupitly done. Its a moving station in game, thats why the bgs takes so long for it to move. It would be cool if they could optimise it and give us a tool to actualy use it for more than 500 ly.

Nice to hear that colonization will be feasible for solo players! Now I just hope that the 4-week deadline do deliver materials is achievable with, say, a couple hours a night. A lot of us can't dedicate a month of full-time work to a game haha

Missions. Please Frontier, design some good missions, not just generic A-B quests. How about Military campaign missions for each power? Something new and more involved. Other than that give me more planetary bodies and geological features, more weapons, ships, environments for foot and ship. Ship interiors, EVA missions. Racecourses. Give Bountyhunters some love.

Personally, if I want a first person space shooter, I'd select a game that specialises in that aspect. ED never was and never will be that kind of specialised game. I would rather FDev gave us significant joined up lore content that centred around exploration, that other crucial function of Elite. Still, if they give us content for both then I wouldn't complain.

@ChrisM541 I agree and disagree. I do wish they'd follow the original ideas that Braben had. But they do have a pretty decent FPS feel. The way the character moves and interacts is actually pretty decent. If they polished it, they could make FPS centered modes. Like team deathmatch or something. Planetary capture the flag would be kinda cool. Could tie into poweplay factions, be another way to earn merits. I want more exploration content more than anything as well. More atmospheric planets with actual trees etc. Actual life. Etc. It's a tall ask though for such a small developer. Also, i think the game is tapped out when it comes to the performance. As in, there's not enough performance overhead for 99% of the playerbase for more stuff to render in game. One of the few games that uses all 12gb of my vram. And then some. We'd all need 4090's

I think one thing they could do that would be nice is in the system you own and building in is that you don't have to pay upkeep on your FC while its parked there as it would be taken care of as it where by your Home Team :)

I imagine that during the beta, we will see that number doubled to 20ly. There are so many systems that are like, 11ly away from each other, which would make it very tedious to plan out.

It's not perfect at all. It would take 39 years to get to colonia in a straight line. Which is impossible. Because you'd need to dance around weird gaps. At 10 LY it would take 125 years to beagle point and a minimum of 34 ly is needed just to reach it by jump distance.

We need far more ground locations and on-foot areas, empty planets like Starfield are not enticing, and xenobiology for credits is mind numbing. That, or multi-crew ship interiors. Odyssey is still such a letdown. Don't tell me to go play Star Citizen, I already do lol.

I want to see visited stars saved server side. New computer? Poof. There goes your personal data on where you have been. Star map becomes a biiiit more useless.. (Visited systems wont show as blue for example) I hope colonization generates resources and credits if you can get the system into a positive and productive state. Would be nice to have some passive income. (by income I mean more than just credits)

While i agree, there is a workaround. In appdata, there is a "visitedstars" file that you can just copy over. Also, new computer but not transferring your SSD's into it?? Storage is expensive, that's why they don't do it

Getting less and less excited for colonization as I hear more. If Im building a building I want it to me MY system and thus have micro management over it like a basic strategy game, making me money. Hearing zero upkeep tells me once you build into a system you don't get anything else out of it and thats disappointing

we all need to come to agreements about what systems to attempt to build in first/ build towards when possible: 1. galactic center. that station there is terrible, need a full micro bubble there. 2. beagle point. no need to explain. 3. permit locked systems in the black. dev bug or major lore implications? who knows, lets poke the bear and find out. 4. expanding the colonia bridge. 1 station every few 1000 LY isnt enough for the casual player making the trip in a stock sidewinder. 5. nebulae. pretty gas clouds again, no need to explain 6. inside prison ship systems. those systems do be bleak. comment more ideas below
