When I lived in Jackson county 20 years ago we had one Black kid in the entire middle school, possibly the entire county's school system. He was in special education class and I've always doubted that he actually needed to be in the special education class. I wouldn't be shocked if they used it as a way to keep him segregated from the majority of the school. My family moved to FL in 2004 and I'm so thankful for it because of how much it opened my world view. Sadly the racism in Jackson county is nothing new and I had A LOT to unlearn from living there. I just hope there are enough kind and sensible people to put this to a stop though I seriously doubt they will.

People need to be smart with dealing with these types of folks. The way you confront it determines the effectiveness and longevity of success. You need to let them speak so that discussion happens in how you articulate against and teach others in how to discern and critically think regarding any social idea, of course bad ones. I'm old enough to know from experience that these groups seem to pop up about every 20 years in cycles. They puke out these ideologies as if they are something knew. As a former resident of Gainesboro, I don’t see them as welcomed by locals. Also, the majority of the county operates solely on volunteer fire departments, fires are most often complete losses as the county is too poor to accommodate sufficient resources to extinguish fires in a timely manner.
