@@chayo4537sweetie you do realize that crime happens in every city in America right? Crime isn’t specific solely NY and here in NY has actually gone down in recent years (compared to the 60’s-90’s), and you probably aren’t smart enough to realize that the news and media like to hype up the news of the “violence” because that’s what attracts more attention and views. As a native NYer, trust me it’s not everyday that a stabbing or shooting happens and it doesn’t happen every single minute. Yes crime does in fact still happen but not as often as you’d think. Also, this is Long Island not Manhattan/The Bronx/Brooklyn/Queens/Staten. If you actually try educating yourself and look at a map of NY: you’d see that there’s 5 boroughs (Manhattan included) upstate NY (going towards Canada) and Long Island, at the edge of NY.

Any residents annoyed by all the tourists might as well move away, because decades from now people are still going to be fascinated by that story. It was a place on my bucket list to see one day. During my first visit to NYC I took a drive to Amityville. I stopped at the intersection that gives you a practically direct view of the house. It’s gorgeous, as is the neighborhood. It was lovingly decorated for Xmas, well lit like an upscale property. 100% charming, 0% off putting, or creepy or anything negative. Instantly got over my fear of that place/story. Several years later I had been in the area on a Sat when on the way back to Jersey I learned on 1010 WINS that the now last owners held a huge yard/moving sale that day, allowing public access into the house AND I MISSED IT! I was so bummed.

I wouldn't mind living there. It's a beautiful home. Yes, a tragedy happened there but the house was never haunted. Reminds me of the recent Fall City murders of the Humiston family. Eldest son went for the entire family, tried to frame the next oldest. Here, he blamed his sister 18 year old sister and said he only killed her, no one else. There, he blamed his 13 year old brother, even placing the gun in his hand. Either way, young kids and teenagers were very brutally murdered in their own home along with their parents by someone they should’ve been able to trust their whole lives. Let’s not forget that. Beyond the news coverage, the speculation and the movies, this was a real family betrayed and killed by an enemy within.

@kryptism I don't know that a movie like that will ever be made.
