Dr Zameer Careem, is such a talent, Gosh, he speaks without any notes, every week, doesn't stammer, no pauses, and has a wonderful flow of words, very articulate and he reminds me of those Colonial period teachers at Mount.

This interview is excellent as always. Dr Zameer Careem is a Brilliant historian, very posh, eloquent, and knowledgeable historian. The Government should recognise his talent, and appoint him as an Ambassador of Sri Lanka, as he is absolutely fit for the job. BRAVO !!!

@jumping Lankan no. My issue is not with Dr Careem. My issue with all the people jumping on here as if this is some amazing scientific discovery, when in reality a) we learned about the De La Hey/Rajasinha treaty as well as most of the rest spoken about here in Grade 8 (if you did your O levels before 2000), and that we don’t see Colombo liberals going into paroxysms of delight when there are much more in depth programmes by the likes of Dr Raj Somadeva that none of these same delighted folks give any regard to (despite him covering similar topics)- is this because he doesn’t speak in a fake accent in English?

I am glad to see someone young, wise and eloquent explain Sri Lankan history so well. I randomly came across this interview on the French, and its amazing. My granddad was a Burgher from Ceylon, who migrated to Aussie in the 1960s.Dr Careem has got the potential to be the Sri Lankan Shashi Tharoor. I wish the host/interviewer would be a bit excited, and energetic, rather than sounding dreadful and uninterested.

I am very proud of this young lad, Dr Zameer Careem. His Memory and eloquence are worthy of praise. True gentleman, and I do hope, that the Government would take steps to retain him in the country, HE IS A TREASURE, our nation needs more professors of this calibre, if not he too would migrate and join the rest of his family in the UK

Dr Careem, a young 28 year old guy with such sharp memory, brilliant speaker, and he is a knowledge factory. This boy needs to be recognised for his immense talent, if not he too would migrate, and we would end up with dumbos.
@bornforbanning3 жыл бұрын
Let him migrate then, who the hell cares? He’s just parroting out facts that are well documented- if people are that ignorant then that is there problem
@bornforbanning3 жыл бұрын
@jumping Lankan I have already responded to your habit of ‘jumping in’ (as your name aptly suggests) as you seem to not understand what the actual issue is. Nobody cares about fake accent scripted dramas by Maharaja, rehashing topics we learned about in Grade 8 (although Colombo english speaking community’s memory appears short). If you want to hear real history look up the likes of Dr Nira Wickremasinghe or Dr Sujit Sivasundaram at Cambridge University for Sri Lankans who are flying the historical flag- not people will political agendas
@michaelrockstar82813 жыл бұрын
@@bornforbanning What makes you think that Dr Careem has a political agenda. Firstly, he is of mixed heritage, he is partly Sri Lankan, and spent many years abroad, yet he is dedicated to raising awareness on the history and heritage of this country, which is truly commendable, stop insulting the way he speaks. What is your problem with his accent, you expect everyone to sound the same, are you insane, seems like you are, so please get yourself admitted into an asylum. Stop trying to sabotage the work of a hard working young lad, with your idiotic comments.

There is no reason to argue, or take sides. I am sure Dr Careem and other professors aren't bothered at all about who likes and dislikes their programs, they don't care whether people like thejr accent. They all try to impart their knowledge on us, through their programs, they are all talented, and are unique and hard-working. Dr Careem is still at his early stages, as he is still young, and if he continues his good work he will achive the status of prominent historians. More so, we cannot accuse or question Dr Careem, if Colombo high society happens to watch his program, its great, I find the program interesting because its understandable and simple, and the guy is young, so people support him.

Some historian/doctor Zameer Careem, who is of Afghan-Pakistani origin, is speaking about Sri Lankan history and you guys are supporting him. He should be shipped off to some refugee camp. Just because one receives foreign education, and has command over the English language, doesn't qualify him/her to speak about Sri Lanka. This foreign mixed race guy should be shunned not praised. such a shame !!!
