I have a suggestion regarding this ad conundrum. Maybe you could add a tier of subscriber who is like a company auditor or something. This person or persons can approve ads from companies who DON'T advertise on godi news. That way it's vetted. You get the added revenue of premium subscribers who are also default moderators and extra revenue from eithical companies supporting your journalism. Technically it is still subscriber funded since this company ad auditor is paying for it and it allows you to run your business sustainably.
