The question is why airports lights or antennas whatever, had to be installed on a steel reinforced concrete antitank barrier, right at the end of the landing strip. If that was a regular fence the plane would just go through no problem and stop in the sand.

The pilot in the interview mentioned the plane's approach was turned around. Meaning, planes typically land in the opposite direction on that runway.

@ one way runway… bad design still, should be able to land either way. This is a blind engineering mindset, failure to plan for emergencies. Also, reverse thruster of the right seemed open, no wing flaps AT ALL… looks like no hydraulic. And if this was their 2nd attempt, they might have had time to attempt getting the gear manually down, or the tower should have told them it was not down in case their instrumentation was wrong about it. Their speed seem consistent with forward speed, no reverse thrust… I am no expert but been looking at it and listening to other experts online all day (am between US and Korean time zone)

@@NewChannel-wi7vj no, it's actually something people learn in flight school that a plane with no landing gear can slide uncontrollably on a flat surface and fail to slow down, which is one of the reasons many airports have that grass along the sides of the runways, it's there to slow them down in an emergency.

I suspect they were flying on only one engine and by bazaar misfortune a bird got engulfed by the one running engine. The entire planes hydraulics went out and they bare managed to partially crank down the front landing gear manually. There may have been no way to extend the flaps which are needed to extend lift needed to keep the aircraft flying at slower landing speeds. and the aircraft did touch down in the final third of the runway well beyond the control tower. As for the dirt embankment at the end of the runway, that is placed there to stop aircraft which have lost control on either takeoff or landing.

Even Jesus prayed while on the cross, and yet he died a horrific death. And yet, he resurrected. And that is our hope. We are just passing through planet earth. This is not our home.
