Well it’s the job of the DOC to protect those under their watch, thus the reason for them or him to be in PC. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a set up by one or more of the guards. But that being said at the end of the day he was a former cop and two he is a White man that killed a Blackman. But he should be protected because he is already being punished for what he did.

Fun fact: the United States has one of the lowest number of training time for police officers in the developed world at only around 500 hours. Meanwhile in countries with much lower recidivism rates and lower crime counts apportionate to population, such as Norway and Finland, have police officers go through roughly 4.5k hours of training. Just giving some food for thought, I wonder what y'all think about that and consider what we should do to fix our country's problems.

@@Highlander1432 I knew making my main comment that the first argument anyone would bring up is population, but population cannot be our excuse for not wishing more training for the people who enforce the law. It's said when learning a skill it can take 10K hours to perfect it, so which one would you pick?

@@Moving_Castles4278learning on the job is 10x more effective and realistic than so-called “training.” In America, graduates typically work with “FTOs” or Field Training Officers for a year after they finish. Apples to Oranges to begin with. Those countries might manage that but we have an extremely high demand for police in this country because we actually have crime. Now go regurgitate that stupid argument somewhere else please.

The weapon used is not a real knife, that is called a shank made of plastic, most of the time with the plastic spoon they give you in prison or with the toothbrush, the shank is a short weapon and almost never reaches vital organs, when one use that weapon one goes for the throat or the eyes, stabbing many times as quickly as possible, a sudden unexpected attack to have the advantage of time and surprise so if that is done where there are more people around, like the outside yard or inside entertainment area, people around you including the guards have no time to react and grab you and separate you away from your enemy. Chauvin survived because that guy who stabbed him is a rookie with no experience using a shank in prison.

The Bureau Of Prisons is a total catastrophe. This man was a CERTAIN target by violent prisoners who hunt for sport out of horrific prison boredom. Prisons must change. AG Garland is a busy man, but he has ultimate responsibility for prison safety. This is an outrageous and savage attack. Shameful. The guards do not care AT ALL!!! Too lazy to shake down every single day to keep weapons away. LAZY and over-worked. Makes me SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we are going to lock people up, we have to spend the money it takes to do it humanly.

Here in NZ, I was done for 10 for stupid decisions in 2007, on my 2nd to last year we had a inmate(mongrol mob) transfered from another prison 2hrs away from the prison i was at, inmate done 17yrs years & been transferred for realease where i was, 2hrs before his realease he headed out to the yard to chill with the rest of the boys there training, he started yapping about his release & about all his family waiting outside for his release, Sadly he didnt make it out alive, one of the inmates(Crips) stabbed him up 36 times in the yard, he died at the yard.. Wicked for us to witness, moral of the story is, lifers dont give a f*ck about life coz they know for sure they aint making it out anytime soon..

You should never use your power to bully and harass others. Derek's Biggest flaws are his racism and arrogance. He felt he could just bully and hurt whoever he wished cause he was a cop. He was wrong and as a result, lost his job, went to prison and a former gang leader severely hurt him cause Derek's now just like every other criminal.
