There were lots of smiles in the Chancellor's speech as well as the commitment to the tough economic decisions that she has to make, but has she managed to turn the page on Labour's rough beginning in government?

Andrew Marrs description of unsettling is right … She seemed to have only partial control of her face, grimacing and gurning through her hysterical deranged hollering . And when she proclaimed that they have changed the Labour Party after cheering on the arrest of a person who isn’t a fan of the government supporting a genocide. I think she hit the nail on the head .They’ve changed the Labour Party into the Tory party. I mean let’s be honest Nobody likes Starmer’s Labour and they won because everybody hated the Tory’s. And if This bunch roll out austerity 2.0 then they and us are doomed .

What Labour needs to remember is the lowest turnout for a general election . They only got elected by a small number of voters . They have no real mandate. The public are so fed up and disconnected from Politics currently. We have no real change going forward. They said those with the broadest shoulders would have to pay up . I don’t see that coming. Not a Labour Party anymore

I just don't really trust anything she says now. Her approach to the Winter Fuel Allowance seems utterly bizarre. I've seen many reasonable proposals for how to temper the negative effects. And she steadfastly refuses even to consider any of them. Whilst making spurious excuses. That suggests to me she's pursuing some agenda other than what she presents to the public.

Is it historic? We've had three female Prime Ministers over the past 40 years. So it's hardly miraculous that we now also have a female chancellor. I think most people are fed up with politics which focuses on identity above substantial policy making a material difference to the lives of normal people.

Difficult moment fir the Kabour party given the necessity of ensuring only the pensioners that require winter fuel payments to have a liveable winter receive it bit of an ask though as Pension Credit is a bit of a gateway all or nothing benefit but welfare requires reform we all know it. The optics of receiving gifts from party sponsors was too little exploited by Labour in opposition now we kind of know why, so work to do being more open and putting the corrupt Conservatives to the sword. The budget is a pivotal moment though as living on increasing debt is not acceptable to a fairly pragmatic voting majority if they can make taxation fairer even if the overall burden is higher and explain it in a way that makes sense as it was pretty clear the Tories ensured their wealthy backers were well taken care of with lower rates of tax in the areas where they receive their wealth. Equally ensuring we are not a wasters and spongers paradise is quite a challenge where all Joe public sees is migrants getting everything along with our generations of homegrown benefit experts who know the system well enough to live well and never contribute. I eagerly await the revolution in the wsy the country is run where it was obvious a group of backers gets rewarded.

Thanks to an obsession with Brexit and their own internal strife the Conservatives Party blew a gaping hole in their previous credibility with the economically literate and anyone who understands the role business plays in employment and helping to provide the most of the products we all depend upon. Why am I not surprise that journalists are the most cynical audience for every political speech? Neither am I surprised that many people remain sceptical until they see the direct benefits of growth and greater prosperity. May people just dont want to hear the reality that any significant change takes time - and very probably more than 3 months.
