I think there's no doubt they are going to be severely crippled, but there's a great deal of doubt it's the end for the Tories. They will still have enough numbers to be the party of opposition. At that point, if they don't get their act together, then indeed they will be wiped out during local elections in the years to come. Sunak will be given the boot. The Tories will struggle to find a new leader with any gravitas, but eventually, they will reform around the values they once stood for. There are some decent recognisable figures still young enough to make a go at a return to form. They need to shake off the incredibly troublesome right arm that have gained too much power chasing the likes of Farage. For what? 12% of the vote? Madness.

I think there is far too much personification of the ‘Tory Party.’ Sure the government has done a lot wrong over the last 14 years, but it’s been a coalition of people, a few have done reasonable jobs, many haven’t. What however is a very bad thing for everyone is a sort of 1-party Labour run state. Labour will win, and fair enough, they probably are due a go but these comments just annoy me really. Trust me now, Labour will not be perfect, there will be a lot of complaints and who knows, they may well end up being just as bad.

Because the media give him the spotlight constantly. Ed Davey for example, doesn't seem to get nearly as much attention despite actually being an MP and leader of the Lib Dems. Yet, ironically, I think Farage has shown that there are ways to move politics in this country in directions without being in charge of the big two parties. The only other figure I think that mimics this skill is Mike Lynch. That man would be the most naturally gifted politician of our times if he wanted to be involved and I could see vast chunks of working class voting for him.

I'm generally quite a cosmopolitan globalist who believes in more open borders. But I think we could quite easily head off that darker nationalism by embracing a more reasonable nationalism. Rather than demonizing all nationalist sentiment as parochial bigotry. Fundamentally it's not unreasonable to believe that a nation state's government should prioritize its own citizens. And that immigration policy should primarily be based on what benefits them, both economically and culturally.
