The interior shot is of a Chinook. Chinooks have the mirror to look back into the passenger compartment while Blackhawks do not. Chinooks also have the larger cheek windows.

Really cold weather ops is not just tough on the people - it's tough on the machines. Much respect to the operators and MX that make this happen.

Yeah! I was thinking, nah, we humans of the North know how to layer up! But our machines do NOT. No power - big problems. I've seen tires on trucks freeze flattened! You're correct - kudos to those that keep the machines running in the cold!

I did roughly 8 weeks in the North Sea with snow and ice on an aircraft carrier. I can tell you we were only allowed up on deck for launch and recovery and very short fixes. It was around 30 below and the wind chill above everything. 🥶

@@Beth-ie and that’s no joke, the only difference is we had aircraft sliding like crab pots. We were always chaining them down and sometimes we would only travel in pairs to make sure each went where we meant to go.

That sounds nuts but I guess that needed to be done. If things break out between Russia and nato we'll be operating in that weather so I guess we need to practice in. Hope all your guys made it out of there safely...

That UH-60L doing the snow landings is 98-26818. It was my bird (well, my name was on the side of it) - former crew chief AK Army Guard. I got out and went Air Guard when Col Edwards was a 1LT ;)
