Newton Isaac Shoe Review | Run Moore | August 2023

Great to see you carry Newton’s. The original Isaac was a hybrid shoe to get new runners into the brand Newton and it was only $10 less like 10 years ago. 😮 I feel like the 8mm drop feels more like the ASICS Cumulus in height as its the same 8mm and the density feels similar too. Great video!!! I really miss selling Newton’s. My shop won “brand builder” award from them years ago. I was one of the first stores to carry them. I am retired now. If I was in Maryland I would apply to your shop it sounds amazing.

I’ll always have a love for the Isaac because it’s the shoe I ran/jogged 100lbs off and reversed diabetes with. When I wore it out and got lighter I found their more minimalist shoes more suitable to me. This new model looks interesting but I for one believe they should widen the toe box more. Feet don’t come to a point like that!

I loved the fit of my Newtons Fate years ago, but those damn lugs! Why not make a low drop model based on Fate or Gravity without the lugs instead of this cushy 8mm drop one?

I been running on the new Isaac and love the shoe. the fit is perfect giving enough space in the toe box for your feet to expand as you land. the drop perfect and the new foam super. I run an average 100 miles per week. Have around 25 silver buckles for 100 miles. 4 times Spartathlon, etc. and in all my life this is my favorite shoe, and I have try many brands. So next Spartathlon or Sakura Michi 250 km this is the shoe I will run in.

Ya, I call me Distance 7 the Achilles Killers, I've slowly gradually eased myself into running my short runs in them to see how my legs react to them days later. 👍

Not every runner out there has the same running mechanics. Minimal low drop shoes are not for everyone This probably is not the right pair of shoes for me, but I’m very glad that Newton has decided to do something different and cater to the larger running community. This company gets so much right, I’d love to see them become more successful and grow as a business and get their unique technologies on the feet of more people. This is the right move.

I have been using newton shoes for a long time, using the same size for "all" the models I have used. They recommend to use 1/2 size bigger, do you agree with that recommendation? Thanks

Hmmm.....interesting. I was very much in the Newton cult between maybe 2010 and 2016. Until a physical therapist turned me onto Altra. A rocker and an 8 mm drop just feels so un-Newton like! But from a business perspective if they're trying to compete more with what's currently out there, I get it.
