Also I do believe the police station is still very much in use. They have also recently done up the old town hall and are going to do up all of market street and the markets and the train station I believe so it might be worth going back when that is done to see the difference

Yes, I will definitely be visiting Newton again soon. It will be interesting to see the work that's taking place. I look forward to seeing the end result.

@@exploringwithjb if I was you I would wait until the regeneration project is done In earlstown it would be a good contrast to record. If you type in earlstown regeneration on KZbin there should be a short video showing you the plans

How it's changed, I lived in Earlstown well inbetween Newton for 20 years and worked at Randalls nurseries. I was 15 years old, I also helped build Parkside colliery and helped landscape the coal mine grounds and approch rd. It's 65 years ago since I visited. I also worked at Vulcan Foundry on the garden and ground staff and started my married life in Vulcan Village. The Willow park was known locally as the New Park, there was/is another park just round the corner that we called the Old Park,which incorporated a football field and had a shallow stream running through it. All happy memories of my very younger days. Sad in a lot of ways to see the some of the building like the Curzon picture house now just a memory. Thats progress I supose.

Yes, it has changed a lot. The other park you're talking about is now Menses Park, and that is nothing like it was, I lived in Newton-le-Willows for a long period when I was younger and was surprised at how much had changed when I went back. The thing that I loved about Newton is the sense of community around there, and to this day, you still see the pride people have in the town and their history.

Do you know any abandoned places knocking about just wondering??
@ansongawthorpe90774 ай бұрын
@@jamesgarner7589if I saw this question a few years ago I could of told you many places but a lot of them are now either in use again or getting regenerated. Like for example red bank was abandanded for many years and it was left how it was when it was closed. Me and my friends explored it for hours it was amazing. Also all of park side was abandoned until recent what had some cool finds there.
