A beautiful walk around Newtown Creek on the Isle of Wight. I am not sure the video captures how peaceful it was. A wonderful place to visit.
This walk is taken from Martin Simon's 'Walk the Isle of Wight' book - Link here: amzn.to/3vV8OML
I have listed all my art equipment (right at the bottom of the page) on my website here: cooldudeswalki...
If you enjoyed this video, and want to help me make more, it would be really great if you joined the Cool Dudes Walking Club. There are two ways to join, each with different benefits. Firstly on the website:

Not gonna lie, that was one of the best walks so far. A scenic estuary, lovely weather, and no one else around to ruin it. A top ten cool dudes walk. The phrase "not gonna lie" is one I can't stand, as it's always followed by a mundane statement (apart from above ) that rarely requires the need for subterfuge. E.g. "Not gonna lie, that was a lovely fry-up!".

Things people say that annoys me - "revert back", "on accident", "literally" followed by something figurative, "no dogs allowed". We're about to head into winter here in Australia so I'm getting ready for going on more walks. I've decided that leaving a bit of suncream in my ear is going to be part of my walking routine. Stay cool!

Your round the Island walk with your nan in the video at the beginning was the first CDWC video I watched. RIP Marek's nan. ❤️ Fantastic walk, probably one of the quietest in terms of people. It's now on my list to do. I really hate it when people over 30 who've never used a phrase before suddenly start using it - "rock up" is a particular hate. I also hate "kind of" - it either is or it isn't. I hope that using "So" at the start of a sentence and "like" will one day disappear. Also "anythink".

I think the 'like' in a sentence is here to stay, as my nieces and nephews say it all time. I even find myself saying it sometimes. Sunglasses Marek would be annoyed. Thank you for your kind words.

A beautiful and peaceful walk there Marek. Your sketch was pretty good too. I work for an American company and it really irritates me whenever an American at a meeting says how ‘super excited’ they are to be there. Nearly all of them do. Clearly they’re not. Super excited means you’re literally bouncing off the walls celebrating a big win of some sort rather than talking to people on Zoom. They also say things like ‘oftentimes’ instead of just ‘often’ like they’re in a Shakespearean melodrama. Makes me cringe I can tell you.

Only just discovered your channel. So a bit of catching up to do, but Newtown Creek is a special place & I always walk there when I come over. Lost the car keys there once but by some miraculous fortune someone found them by a fence & got them back later in the day after leaving my number in the Car park at the reserve. Will be over again shortly (need a 2nd mortgage these days to pay for the ferry!) for a week so will be stopping off at Newtown again & will hang onto the car keys for dear life. As for annoying phrases, it's gotta be ''at the end of the day'' which I hear 4, 327 times a day (I've counted, although I am prone to exaggeration....) from my very noisy neighbour who lives downstairs. He thinks he knows it all, been there done that and ''at the end of the day'' I really couldn't give a flying fig........! x J x

Hey Marek, I hope you're well. I've just watched this straight after watching Geowizard's last part of his Walsall to Dudley no roads quest. Talk about a gear change! 😏 When it comes to language there are loads of things I hate. I hate the word Bespoke and I hate it when the word phenomenal is used for something that really isn't. Management speak makes my piss fizz-especially when they start going on about 'thinking outside of the box'. 🙄I hate shortened words too('ledge' 'schedge', 'presh' and 'hilare' can all fuck off) oh and I also hate 'lol'. You're getting really good at watercolour now and thankyou for cheering me up before my shift. Keep that shit up. 🙂

Lovely walk, great video. Childhood memories for me of being dropped off terrified at Corf Camp with the Godshill cubs. Also used to think that The New Inn was genuinely one of the best pubs in the country as they had one of those ‘Pub of the Year’ banners outside for ages. Did you go in? The mis-use of the word “literally” in recent times destroys my soul.

That looked like a great walk Marek. I remember going to Newtown when I was a kid, seemed pretty cool then too. Also loved going to Corf Camp with cubs / scouts - we had races across the creek at low tide, one of my shoes is probably still in that clay / mud bed! One phrase that annoys me probably more than it should is when football pundits declare that a team is e.g. 4 points from safety, even when it's only half way through the season. As if getting those 4 points would then stop them from being relegated 3 months later. Sorry about Norwich by the way... Also can't stand the 'can I get...?' thing that others have mentioned. Very sorry to hear about your nan, take care mate.
@cdwc

I am with you on the football pundits. They also seem to think the result will stay the same about 70 mins in. Generally I hate football commentators. The only good one was the Norwich City TV one who was on during all the Championship matches than were screened during lockdown. He didn’t spout the same tired cliches and actually knew the players having watched them week in week out. In America you can choose the commentary I wish we could do the same here. Newtown Creek was even better than I thought.

Martin Simon's just lulling you into a false sense of security - be extra careful on your next walk. I agree with your take on the footballer/surreal issue. People having such low thresholds for using superlatives and words like surreal just makes me think they lack imagination and/or hope for the future. Do you think a strawberry laces packet would shrink like a crisp packet? If they did it would make a good calling card.

As I have gotten older, I do worry about words getting lost for ever and bad grammar. I think I am partly responsible for this. My Mum always shouts at the TV when Newsreader and reporters use it incorrectly. I think this is fair enough. The shrunken Strawberry Laces pack is an excellent idea.

My least favourite use of language is when someone who has just been presented with an award says that they "feel so humbled." It's so clearly false, they've just been voted or awarded being the best at something and they claim it has made them feel "less important or proud" after a big stroke to their ego. And "off of". The scenery was great, I also enjoy the small clips from the bus journeys you add at the start.
