Hi Marek 👍😊 Great video, cheers. Nice little Easter present for us all.😁👍 Favourite walking item, is a good quality, lightweight waterproof jacket. One you can scrunch up into a ball & shove in the backpack. Favourite seasonal film is 'National Lampoons Christmas Vacation'. You're 100% right about school. 5 years of misery for me too. When you're 13, 5 years seems like forever. Now I'm 50, 5 years goes in the blink of an eye ! 😁 You're so lucky to live on the Isle of Wight. We live near the centre of England. The coast is 3 hours in any direction. 🥴 Keep up with the great videos mate. 👍 Matt.

Thanks Matt. I am a big fan of the lightweight waterproof jacket too. Maybe it's more of a British essential item. Also agree about school. It is odd how those five years seem like about thirty years in my mind. I was in London for 21 years before returning. I don't miss the big smoke at all. Stay cool. Marek

Oh my God, I've had to pause the video halfway because you've just given me a BRILLIANT idea re: buried treasure. I'm going to invent metal-detecting walking shoes. Great walk as always Marek, That road look horrible mate, i went for a walk that had a road like that once and also thought i was going to die at any point, never walked down that road ever again, lol. In regards to the Full Camo people - i know quite a few people who like buying surplus military clothes due too it being really good out door wear, after all it was designed for the military, loads of pockets, usually hard wearing, warm and cheap etc. That farm did look like a murder had happened there, crash scene and everything, lol.

Loved the little upper deck bus eyed view at the start (made me a little nostalgic for my rover ticket days!). Can't say I have bad memories of Sandown High, but I was only there for 3 years so maybe it's the extra two that make it really bad... plus the school I had been at previously had ceilings that often fell down on pupils, not enough hocky sticks for a team so you had to use your feet or legs when in goal, and we had to do PE in Los Altos park as there wasn't even a playing field, and windows were nailed shut so it was awful in the summer and no heaters so it was awful in the winter... I guess Sandown High had an incredibly low bar to meet as any school had to be an improvement on that!? My seasonal movie choices are Jesus Christ Superstar (either the 2000 version, or newer arena tour with Minchin as Judas) and that classic film about an invisible rabbit- Harvey with the wonderful James Stewart.
@cdwc
@cdwc 3 жыл бұрын
I loved the Rover ticket. I think it was £2.50 or something for a child's Rover. We ended up going to Newport and back. I just looked Rover tickets up, they are £10, but you have to pay more if you want to get on the Breezer buses (these are the topless ones). The sixth form at Sandown was OK, the three preceding years were a bit grim.

You did well to scare off that mutant rat. I think you would've been fine against the adder - I don't like them either. When I walked The Ridgeway in 2018, I was nearing the end of a very long day when I decided to rest on this fallen tree. Sometime later, I got up and noticed a proper bench only 5 metres away, just beyond the branches! :-)
@cdwc

The rat was terrifying and at least eight times as big in real life. I spend most of the hour before lunch trying to assess where to have lunch. My worst one was at a base of a hill in the mud, only to climb the hill with a plethora of benches at the top with incredible views.

@@cdwc We had a rat in work last summer and people seemed reluctant to do anything. It ran past my foot one day - the size of a dog - and I swear is was squeaking as it dragged its belly along the floor!! Not a fan of the things. A good bit of gear. The Price Per Use on that might be down to 1p per use, an excellent investment on an item. PPU is my system for attributing value to an item. My North Face backpack I bought approximately eight and a half years ago for £70.00 has been used on about 1,600 days, giving it an excellent PPU of 4.3p. I was going to ask this on one of my own live streams but seeing as it came up on here : Why do people hang dog mess bags on trees? if they are that lazy why not just chuck it in the bottom of a bush, at least everyone wouldn't have to look at it then, what a disgusting sight, why hang it up for others to see? - Can any one answer me?
@cdwc
@cdwc 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is really weird isn't it. I assume they just chuck it in the woods. I don't see why they even put it in a bag.

I use Komoot for my hiking navigation. I've not tried the navigation part of outdoor active. How do you find it? Have a great Easter.
@cdwc
@cdwc 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is really good. It gives you a pink line and a blue dot which shows your location. If you veer too far from the route it gives you a warning. You can put audio on too, but I switched it off. I think my favourite thing is finding the routes on the maps easily.

It would be nice to have some way of knowing the best spots for having a discreet wee, with tree cover and nettle rating. That way we'd no longer have to worry about inadvertently exposing ourselves to passers-by (horrific because then we are the perpetrators of public nudity possibly in sight of children), and only have to worry about the perverts that would undoubtedly accumulate (fine, because we are then the blameless victims and also possibly heroes for keeping the perverts away from aforementioned children).

Yes maybe there should be a sign on maps 'PS' although with that abbreviation piss spot could easily be confused with picnic spot.
