In Italy changing the window size of an historical building would require a lot of paperwork and a NO from the authorities. Lucky you!
@tommorrison418911 күн бұрын
Stone blocks are still used in house building today in the north of England and it looks like the kitchen was extended at some time maybe in the 70's so using stone would be the choice of the owner as the use of brick next door show. Both would need planning permission from the local council. The insulation of a window would be OK.

What amazes me is the fact that at some points in his videos I, a clueless hobbyist, am thinking 'Wouldn't there be a better tool/way to do just that?' and then he just goes ahead and makes it all work out seemingly easily. Really goes to show you how much skill and experience mean to produce masterful outcomes. True craftsmanship, fullest respect!

Here the thing: this content is next-level in every way. Watching this is like going to the opera or Seeing a Broadway play. I realize it's not everyone's thing but that doesn't diminish the quality. Like when you go to a really good lecture or presentation... I walk away from each of these and think to myself how much richer my life is because of the experience. Honest to God this is one of my favorite channels! I can't tell you how unbelievably impressed I am!

What really impresses me is how calm and composed you are throughout. I redecorated our hallway in an Edwardian house recently and when I went to repair some cracks, a whole wall of plaster just came off 😮 I was left with a brick wall. I panicked like hell and ended up dot and dabbing some plasterboard over the top and skimming it myself but I was a bag of nerves throughout and constantly questioning what I’m doing. You’re a master of all trades and I wish I had an ounce of your confidence.

35:21 FUN FACT this material is also used to make HRV -- heat recovery ventilation --- you just stack them alternately (in X and Y axis --- XyXyXy) glued using contact cement --- 33x33cm / 13x13 inches or bigger (depending of the sheet size -- average is 1x2 meter) until you get like around 20-25 cm (8-10 inches) hight (or more if you want more air flow).... 2 fans , 2 air filters , box for it also from it / XPS etc and you have HRV for like 50 to 100$ PS it's not ERV so it won't control humidity---its like if you have window open all the time but where you dont lose heat because of that (ERV use silica gel in a spinning mesh wheel /or is build like that HRV but using moisture-permeable material stacked alternately) 90% of the recovery ventilation on market are those cheaper ones --- and they are HRV , , they still work , but they won't regulate humidity

Tool tip! Just in case you read these and are cutting through your wall in the future... They do make a diamond cutting blade for a reciprocating saw (spray water to keep cool) very handy for stone block and concrete blocks if you just need to remove a corner very neatly (all be it a little slowly)
