Saw a police car pull up to our local gas station. One officer went in to the toilet while the second waited. The second officer had only just gone in to the toilet when he ran back out and they were off to an emergency. Much respect for police when some don't even have time to use the toilet, let alone eat. Good work. Saw some officers outside my supermarket the other day and got them a couple of boxes of muesli bars to take back to the station. After I saw a video of constable Hurn talking about the job I say hi to officers more and sometimes get them something to snack on if I see they are going to be there for a while. They deal with a lot of people who dislike what they do so it's good to remind them there are people out there who respect their work.

@@YoYo-od1xd The US is just fucked up in many ways. Pretty much everybody can own a gun and there are a lot social problems in certain areas. Also US Cops dont seem well trained, even there are good ones for sure. It takes them something like 13-19 (!) weeks to finish their training, in germany per example its three years. Also patroling by yourselfe is a huge problem. Which isnt a thing in most developed countries . That doesnt mean all US Cops are bad, but the system is shitty and makes it easy for things to escalate. Per example look at all the people who got shot, only because they wanted to take their wallet out of their pocket or something similar...

My niece applied to join the police force, (she was doing nuclear science (something like that!) at university and doing very well,) she is fit and pretty and smart. She sailed through the application and the last word she heard was the police officer saying to her, "Ok you're in. I look forward to seeing you in uniform.." Great. Then she was notified later that her application had been rejected because when she was ten years old she had rung in terror, in the middle of the night, the police, because her mother was freaking out smashing things etc on methamphetamine.) One phone call and she was out. The poor kid had grown up with a mother addicted to meth and alcohol and used to have to grab her baby brother and run out into the street in the middle of the night, crying in fear. Yet she only ever made ONE call to police. It doesn't seem fair that she should be rejected on those grounds nor does it make sense to me. It was because her mothers dad - my older brother, (Poppa) live a couple of blocks away that she did so well in school and in life. He looked after her and would take her and baby brother to his house for a few weeks, till her mother calmed down. He also encouraged her in her schooling and her love of sports (she was a surf life saver while in high school and champion in other sports,) she was a straight A student. He provided the stability she needed in life and he doted on her! But why should she suffer because of a phone call crying out for help at age 10? (Later, she learned to simply ring Poppa and he would drive down and taken her an brother to his beautiful home.)
@iamasmurf11225 жыл бұрын
sojourner I don’t really believe that was why she got rejected , As an Australian who lived in NZ and I went to the seminar to join NZ police if you don’t disclose all information about your family to police and they find out you will be rejected !! Your neice was not honest to the police when she joined up , I did not bother applying to be a police officer because they wanted me to disclose any criminal behaviour in my family and I was not prepared to do that .

So if you come across a suspect with a firearm that’s prepared to use it, do you just hope he or she gives up or uses it on themselves.
@isxnsiss5864 жыл бұрын
Well if they do use it on the officer or anyone else in that matter I think their that's like life in prison. But I mean if they had to fight for their life I would try to stun-gun them that's me anyway they do have armed officers I think. Gun laws. The minimum legal age to own a gun in New Zealand is 16, or 18 for military-style semi-automatic weapons. Anyone over those ages who is considered by police to be "fit and proper" can possess a firearm. All gun-owners must have a licence, but most individual weapons don't have to be registered.
@enesex4 жыл бұрын
I would never want to go up against someone that has a firearm when the best tool I have is a taser. Literally the definition of bringing a knife to a gunfight There are criminals everywhere and they are criminals because they don’t follow the law. So having laws only affect the law abiding. I think all law enforcement should be armed no matter the country. All it takes is one time and you’re dead because some criminal had a gun that he “shouldn’t have had”. Better to have it and not need it than to be DEAD
