I've got the 'baby' brother, GT Elite, rig from NLR. The wheelplate is exactly the same. The NLR aluminium profile rigs are first class. Very rigid, beautifully engineered and superb finish. Similarly, I bought the ES1 bucket seat. I'm in love with it, and would like to see what you think after having it longer term. Thanks, Karl.

Thanks for the review. I am (I'm)patiently waiting for mine to arrive, hopefully in less than two weeks. Here in NZ it will be delivered to my door for under £700 and at only £50 more than the F-GT Elite it seemed a no-brainer to go with the 160. I'm even more excited to get it after seeing it here.

I got myself a F-GT Elite 160 Scuderia Ferrari edition and I totally agree. It is SOLID!! But trying to change things... get yourself prepared. I wanted to change the position of my monitor today and boy... thats hard work. And changing one thing on this NLR rig means all the rest is out of position..

Good review Karl. I picked up the less beefy version (F-GT elite) before this came on the market and I'm sort of pleased you have said the change of position is still a ballache, rather than something that can be switched in seconds. 😀

@KarlGosling I guess I'd be contacting NLR to see if they sell the 'quick release' parts separately. Seeing the accessory prices for the elite range can hardly be described as cheap, it would have probably set me back a couple of hundred quid at least. When I first saw the 160 version and those pull out handles that's exactly what I thought it gave over and above mine. All in all good job your review came along before they did put them as an upgrade pack (if they ever do). Cheers!

Quick adjustment always seems to sacrifice stability. This unit looks like stability was job #1 in its design. How often does one change the seat position really? Something tells me a small jack under the front support bar would make adjustments much easier. Cheers Karl 🍻

Karl, I've been hooked on your videos for weeks now. Recently found myself with more time so decided to scratch my childhood itch of getting a proper setup. Started with the Playseat Challenge X thanks to your reviews and after only a few weekends, I know one day (soon) I will want to upgrade to a fixed rig. But I like playing GT7 and F1 games, and whilst I find myself wanting to sit in the Formula position, I'd like a cockpit that I can switch easily between Formula and GT. As tempted as I am by the gorgeous Playseat Formula (did you ever do a review, btw?), it's fixed. Any tips on one that can do both? Thanks, I love your reviews

Karl, I want a sim cockpit for me and my boys. We currently have a wheel stand and are ready for the next step. I watched your review of the TrakRacer Apline TRX. Since you have had both the NLR F-GT Elite 160 and the Alpine Racing TRX, I am curious about a couple of things. 1) Are they similar in size from a footprint perspective? 2) My boys and I are fairly different in size. I am about 5'7", my oldest son is 5'9", and the youngest son is 4'9". You mention how easy it is to adjust the TRX. In your opinion, does the adjustability of the TRX lend itself better to having three different "drivers" using the sim rig? 3) Are the bucket seats similar in size and fit? Let's just say I could be thinner, so I don't want a seat that is uncomfortably small in width. Thanks for your videos, they have been very informative. It is just really hard to know without seeing and feeling the rigs. Any thoughts you can share would be appreciated.
@KarlGosling4 ай бұрын
Hi Peter, to be honest I would recommend the GT Omega Prime or Prime Lite, these are much better value and the seats are on sliders for quick adjustment, you can also add sliders to the pedal deck (I have a video on this) which means for you guys being so different in height it would be perfect. I also have a lot of reviews of the GT Omega seats showings sizes too... they do vary, some are much bigger than others with the RS12 being the biggest. Take a look here mate www.gtomega.com/discount/GTO5?rfsn=4405211.88b36&Karl

If I wanted to put something like this (or a different aluminium rig) with triple monitors, a DD wheelbase, sequential/H-pattern shifters, in a sort of average upstairs UK bedroom, any idea if that is something I would be able to do without first causing damage to the floor, and secondly making loads of noise. The room is carpeted so Im slightly concerned about damage. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I have a the basis GT-Elite - thinner alu and some budget cuts here and there... It came however with a great seat and slider (from NLR) so I'm very surprised they cheaped out on this on their "premium" rig. Also wondering: does the paint flake easily? Mine allready did after the first install. YES I USED THE WASHERS CORRECTLY :)
@KarlGosling4 ай бұрын
They didn't cheap out, the seat is attached like this to remove the play that you get with a slider, it lists this as a feature aiming to make the whole rig flex free... A bucket seat in a race car is bolted down directly for the designated driver also.
@Phantas794 ай бұрын
@@KarlGosling Didn't look at it that way ... the GT-elite came with the same seat system you had ( 4 quick release bolts on the sliding crossbars ). I chose the ERS1 - being able to slide the seat and change the backrest is vital for switching between car & flightsim for me. The whole rig is still very solid. Too bad it also lacks a tank mode :D

Hi, I have a seat from a real car. Is possible to install it without lot of work?
@ronholmesuk8254 ай бұрын
Hi Karl, I'm a disabled guy and find it nearly impossible to get into a low seating position. With profile rigs I would be absolutely fine if I could raise the seat (and maybe the whole platform) another 6 to 8 inches. Do you know if it's possible to buy kits to raise the level up like that, safely? Thanks mate, I watch all your videos and thought I'd ask someone I trust.
@KarlGosling4 ай бұрын
Not a kit no but raising profile is easily done just by placing it on wooden blocks, or if you want it to look more intentional then you could buy some black profile and bolt it on underneath the cockpit.

Why are you testing this crap? Others have already tested this brand and no one is impressed. Try the ASR PRO Sim Racing Cockpit. Then they sell the ASR PRO Adjustable Wheel Deck so you can buy cheaper ASR chassis and get this adjustment that all manufacturers should have. It's 2024 and how can you not have full ttuning now?= I'm not saying ASR is perfect. But they seem to understand a thing or two.

@@KarlGosling Take and test the one I said instead. Undoing a lot of screws to adjust is complicated and you can't adjust as much as with the one I wrote about the ASR pro. It's 2024 and they don't do better things than this with all the technology and machines that can make so many good things. This is really pathetic. Also take, for example, the Trak Racer Alpine Racing TRX, which was so hyped and so adjustable. But if you were to use the adjustment in between, it would break. is so pathetic too. So much crap being done and I can't understand why you haven't tested ASR pro for a long time. I think everyone who knows anything about sim racing knows about ASR pro.

@@yukkydukky1752 I've got the GT Elite, and so do a few others in replies. The thinner tubing you would think to be less rigid, but it is SOLID (see Boosted Media's review, too). The seat (I've an ES1 bucket) can be reclined via tilting it back in the mounts, to achieve a hybrid position. Not F1, but may suit you.
