The best economic benefit will come from the production sector if governance and compliance are well put in place. Ghana's biggest issue is our roads. Good roads A-B in a pace of time for your logistics is what drives a country to wealth.

This is a very welcoming idea and very feasible. Imagine Passport office, DVLA, etc etc working 24hrs in this country. That will make it very easy to obtain a passport, license, etc. The first thing to do is to improve on our security situation in the country.

I agree. Once power is guaranteed. 24 hour economy will make Ghana boom. I dislike countries that go to bed. One secret for the rapid development of Africa is to allow night businesses to flourish everywhere.

Who is going to renew or obtain a license at midnight?😀 24 hour work only will be of benefit in the factories, hospitals, police, security companies, etc, which most are already doing.

@@marilynlucas5128is there any law against night businesses? No except that the economy is not fully employed. The question is what are the needed policies to be implemented to reach full employment to enhance the 24-hour economy? Boosts and booms inTourism, arts and culture including entertainment, industrialization, low inflation and interests rates, etc, with effective transportation, communication and security sytems and operations are the main drivers of such policy.

Only stupid people will follow such a proposal. He couldn't pay workers during his tenure. Some teachers were paid three months salary for a year worked. How is he going to cope with increase labour with no work to do. Some workers go to work late and leave early because they don't have anything to do.

There's no where in the world where 24hour economy is physical apart from essential service like fire, health, security etc. In the private sector 24hour economy there is just demand push which is just 15% in the advance counties. All the over the world 24hour economy exist but they're all digital 24hour economy. For Mahama to just say such a thing just like that means he doesn't even understand what 24hour economy is and he sounded childish.

A 24 hour economy is highly desirable. Ghanaians are poor but they want to go to bed at 8pm? A 24 hour economy will help solve unemployment and increase GDP. If this is NDC's plan they are thinking in the right direction. The only issue I have is that Mahama has already done two terms and I just don't understand why they voted him as flag bearer when there are other brilliant minds in the NDC.

I am surprised about this discussion though. The COST alone will be less two time that of free senior High school. Look salaries, labor demands, private sector pressure, fuel consumption, utilities impact etc cannot be accommodated by the country. There is no evidence to show that running 24hour economy improves the countries GDP.

Under Mahama's tenure, he couldn't pay workers. Teachers were paid three months salary for a year worked. How is he going to get money to pay increased labour since fourty percent of national budget goes to the salaries of workers?

Is this even a govt policy that a supposed future NDC govt going to propose or implement? By the way, this is happening already through the NPP govt's "digitization/digitalization" agenda that the NDC is fighting against. People are doing business online 24/7 already especially the private industry so what is the fuss about a 24-hr run govt economy. So now John Mahama and NDC want public/civil servants (and farmers???) to work at night time? He should ask himself the productivity of govt workers even during the day time let alone night time. In any case, how is he going to attempt this socalled 24-hour govt run economy if he brings Dumsor with him? Are the workers going to use lanterns and bobo to work? Is he thinking about security and safety of people running around at night time? If things are good in the country, this is not something engineer by a govt. It comes naturally through growth and development spurred by the private sector and enabled by good govt policies. In any case, how many govt employees/contractors or sectors (federal/state/local govt) in the US or any developed country work or run 24/7 shift? The NDC and John Mahama need to come out with good policies that will spur growth and development. Because how do you run a 24-hour economy if you don't even have a productive 6-hour run economy? Sadly, only NDC people and those who are not well-informed will buy into this gimmick.

Talk is cheap. NDC was in power and what did they do? People should look at Mahama’s history and not his new promises. Anybody can propose to build new pyramids in Ghana but the implementation should be based on their CV and Mahama has a poor CV. What did he do with Saglemi? What did he do with the airbus? Saying you will run a 24-hour economy means nothing without details.

I think the forcause is production sector because already sectors such as health and security sectors run 24hrs and sectors such as education not possible. So forcause sector is production. If the economy is good, things will be cheap, demand increases, business expand, more pple will be employ with increase productions which will eventually lead to 24hrs economy. So the economy have to be favourable first with very low interest rate which is not possible in Ghana with these our leaders and barbaric politics.
