My husband and I spent 30 years restoring a Victorian home in Illinois that had walls with a pebble finish. My husband used joint compound to plaster the walls so we didn't lose any of the woodwork detail as opposed to putting up drywall. Our walls were beautiful!

In your bathroom floor resurface.....would it make sense to keep the tarazzo and inlay another stone to look like a mat in front of the sink, therefore keeping the original but adding a cool decorative piece, the same could be done with any other problem area in that room "tile rugs" lol

I was absolutely shocked when you took us into the "downstairs Loo" and when you were talking about putting a new floor on top of that existing and walked back into where the toilet was THAT I SAW PINK COLORED TOILET PAPER!!! That floored me!!! I remember my Mom buying colored TP when I was younger, but I haven't seen Colored TP in the USA in ages and ages!!! I'm just shocked that it is still being made in this day and age! Oh...the little things us viewers pick up on....LOL
@ManorandMaker Жыл бұрын
Lol... great you picked up that detail. That was actually left from the Hallowe'en rave - the students were so organized they even brought their own TP! We're just using up the last little bits.

Whew - I wish you well on the bathroom-remodel journey. If I may inject a comment: please retain at least one bathtub, in case you have children guests, and please be aware that vessel sinks are terrible for short people. When I go to a hotel with vessel sinks, it's almost impossible to brush my teeth, as the sink hits me mid-chest. Thanks for listening!

My mom bought me a similar traveling case when I moved out of the house. It’s been with me for almost 50 years. I like the idea of just replacing the tiles around the sink in the downstairs we to look like a rug. You might get away with not messing with the doors as it would like like a stone rug. Can’t wait to see your designs ❤❤❤❤

Don't put the towel rack, or anything else, above the toilet. Stuff can easily fall into the toilet that aren't supposed to be in the toilet. Put something to hang towels over the sink and next to the shower, but not by the toilet.

The bathroom at 20:00 min with the curved modern bathtub would look great with a late 1920s theme, esp bc of the curved bathtub, checkered floor, white tiling with black and green or turquoise accent border tiles. making the bathooms themed would be fun and different.

Good luck with the bathrooms!!!!! I’m betting you’ll end up doing a bit here and there among your five bathrooms as you deal with breaks between trades. @ManorandMaker Жыл бұрын
Stay tuned to The Chateau Diaries for all the answers! The repros (where copyright allows) are to reproduce the original look of the rooms after walls are repaired & shored up. The tiles are still in the plans, but lower priority than other projects currently afoot - like the chapel restoration - did you see the cleaned stone?! So stunning!
