Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

I love the laser cut for the door. Caveat: I would put the pattern up (view from the outside) that you have (shown on right door) on the left door; then mirror (reverse) it for the right. So the tall cranes are both facing inward to each other.

The cutout for the door is stunning. I was also thinking that something complimentary on the window above the doors would take it up another notch. And speaking of reusing the tub...I saw on a show one time that someone made artsy armchairs using tub ends.

I think that Steve's design for the door windows is divine! With a bit of a tweak on your design, well actually a big tweak, I think you could create an incredible wall paper design when it is time to redo the main room. Love you both, your progress is amazing!!!

Love the door design!!! Also, I’m a huge fan of under floor heating in a bathroom. Tiles are lovely, but cold to step on. Heated tiles are a game changer on a cold day.

I loved the laser-cut door design. If you do the transom, a version of a peaked, round ended “tent” design similar to the “ } “ mark turned on its side would unite and cap the doors as a single visual unit.
