The King is ill, so anything can happen. I do wish him well and a long reign, but Prince William and Princess Catherine are more than up the job. Let’s just hope they continue to take every precaution and never travel all together on a plane or in a helicopter. Her late Majesty would advise him against that yet there were a few instances when he bucked that advice. I think everyone reading this comment knows why that’s important. Certain individuals need to be kept far away from the throne.

The Royals need to go outdated institution, badly in need of reform, they need to stand completely on their own, pay taxes and no more civil list payments. Far too many useless individuals who do nothing and cost a fortune.

The royals do pay taxes. Charles pays 75% of the money from the Crown Estate to the government. He also pays taxes on his own personal income. The royals also bring in more than a billion pounds in tourism each year which helps produce employment and allows businesses to prosper. The tax payer would have to pay an exorbitant amount of increased taxes if the royals retired from public service. Currently the British tax paper pays about £1.5 per year each to support the royals which is not a princely sum in return for all the royals being to the table in return. Do you feel the huge amount of tax you would inevitably pay in return would be worth no longer having the royals. They are self funded so would continue the same life they now have. The public would incur the loss of taxes and collapse of businesses.

Prince William has his Homewards project to address the homeless situation using his own land at the Duchy of Cornwall and his own private money invested in building the houses in Cornwall. He also helps bring charities, psychiatrists and psychologist to address the root causes of homelessness, whereby drug and alcohol addiction, poverty, psychiatric illness left untreated , low incomes, no income or homes being the major contributors of homelessness for majority of people. Do you believe the government would take over the cost of running his project if he had to leave due to people wanting the royals no longer being of service and supporting the huge number of charities and the people who support them financially. I doubt the government would be willing to donate all the funding from their taxes, do you?
