In this video I discuss some misinformation and misconception on several products that I recently purchased. DC audio level 5 subs, Sundown SFB amps, and D4S LTO batteries.

Some of the mfg’s use pink noise to determine RMS power…some use musical RMS…some make up the RMS number. I’d love to hear DC’s method. Parker’s test is brutal and I’m surprised any sub can handle it in the correct box, correct temp, all stars in line. I agree with the positivity, keep it up!

DC audio uses pink noise in a tuned box with a 18db roll off 3db below port tuning. I run Taramps and the SFB 8k's never had a problem the taramps smart amps with 10Ah + LiFePo4 per 1kw rms. i use LEV60 cells have 444Ah feeding 2x smart 8k's pushing 4x Avatar STU 1546 D2 subs in a c-piller wall

I’m running a single 12 level 5 with some upgrades for about a year now. It’s in 1.6cu box (after displacement) tuned to 30hz. It has been a great sub. I power it with a Smart5 and nowhere near clipping point. I have clamped 3000 watts and the sub doesn’t hardly get warm, the amp either for that matter. Thanks for the great content!

those 12s are insane. so is the price tag. lol. I am a firm believer in overkill with electrical. 390 amp alternator, d3400r up front another AGM in back, dual runs 0 gauge, even on my big 4 all dual runs, all that for a 2500 watt amp. just bought the SFB 5000. I know I keep repeating myself in your comments. lol. I'm just proud of it. it's my first build. a year n a half ago I didn't even know what a 1/0 wire was. thanks for posted this video

This is by far one of the best car audio videos ever! I hear all the time about how SFB amps are supposed to be trash (even by diehard Sundown users/fanboys) and I still went and bought not 1 but 3 SFB amps (2 5k's and a 1000.4) I've got a Kenwood Excelon DMX-706S w/4v preamp outputs, 320amp Brand X alternator 2 runs of 2/0 welding cable going from alt to the trunk (plus the big 3 using the same welding cable) and 96ah of Headway lithium. Each 5k is going to be powering a Deaf Bonce 3012 at 1ohm and the 1000.4 will be powering 6 8"mids and 4 3.5"super tweeters.

Ok peeps , I saw thumbnail and didn’t decided to comment before watching. I have a 99 Silverado LS ext Cab new body style , I bought cheap dual 12 inch under seat box face forward sealed. I had a old school AutoTek Bass Thrust amp rated at 600.2 at 4 ohms and bought two Kicker Cvr and blew them in 5 minutes , returned them and blew the second pair the same . I went back to the , Yes Flea Market, and got my warranty, I got the last generation Punch HX2 12’s and put on hem in the same box the same day , man those subs last me over 15 years . I do love car audio but fell off before learning anything about clipping and so , I had the amp same way , gain three quarter but then subs never felled

Came here from a comment on Parkers video. Nice video, you've earned yourself a sub. Also, another thing I noticed in his video was that he did both the minute tests almost back to back. Baseed on the time displayed on his phone, there was only 2-3min between both tests. The sub was also unloading like crazy during the first one and probably going well out of the gap, which creates even more heat.

great video! i have a 12" DC XL Eliite and have had it for years with no problems and have pushed it to its limits daily. I did see Parkers video and noticed the same thing about the size of his box. Yeah I noticed he was using the same box for different subs. I don’t think it did it on purpose to make one sub look better. Probably mainly to keep cost down and the time it would take to build or buy more boxes. But if he’s going to continue to do these tests he definitely needs to build or buy multiple boxes with different airspace so he can match the subs to around the right airspace.

Which is why there is so much negative out there when there are way more people that are actually happy with what they have, but simply did not say anything. Hey buddy thanks for the response and support of my channel. So headroom is basically the concept of pairing an amplifier that has more power capability than what your subwoofers need. And then, adjusting the gain on the amplifier to match the RMS rating of your subs. So for example, you have a 5000 W amp but a 3000 W sub. You set the gain with a multi meter measuring AC voltage so that your amp is putting out 3000 W, which means you have 2000 W of headroom. By doing that, you are not stressing or pushing your amplifier beyond its limits and as a result have a more efficient system.

What would make this video perfect, is if Parker would step up, and in this comment section, simply explain his reasoning for testing every sub in the same 2.5 cube box. 2.5 cubes in my mind is not even average for what most 12 inch subs are built to preform in. 2 cubes seems it would be a better platform for testing random subs on the average. If one was only testing using one box. A little large or a little small would much better show their potential. But hey, I don't have a youtube channel. I just watch. Nor do I have the funds to spend $80 on a sheet of ply or mdf to build a box to test subs for the public to watch and form their opinion on. Great video, I think some subs pass brutal tests because their rms power is way under-stated, and may be thats done because they sound horrible beyond the stated power. Personally I prefer accurate rating of amps and subs.

Man ur great im just starting out i just have a lil bitty set up but i did it all my self with ur help every step of the way and by lil bitty lol its 4 kicker 6/9 two front two rear then my kicker sub with pioneer head unit and 1000 watt 4 channel pioneer amp but im dang proud that i installed it and it sounds dang nice but it seems too load too me so im wondering what i did wrong i have my right fromt and rear together and my left frint and rear together then my sub is on the other channel so channel a is my speakers channel b is sub i was told adding a line output converter would help with that so i may look into that a lil more thank u for all ur postive videos u truly inspired my itty bitty build 👍

Rn I have 2 Level 4 10’s in an underseat enclosure tuned 35hz. I made the measurements & it comes out to 5 cubic feet I believe. I have them under rms power. Plan on building another box but idk if should do 3.5 cubic or 4. It’s different for trucks compared to SUVS or regular cars with trunk space. What’s your opinion

I think it’s absolutely fine, as long as you know what your doing and set fillers properly. And, understand full bridge amps are not SQ amps. But powerhouses that pump out wattage with a small footprint and small price tag :)

People still don’t understand that the subs he free airs are designed for bigger enclosures anyway, their suspension is designed to handle less back pressure that bigger enclosures have. Subs designed for small enclosures are meant and engeinered just for just that. His tests mean nothing and are strictly for entertainment purposes only. Pretty much everyone else here agrees.

I have a 15in DC Audio XL elite 2200 watt suggested ported box 3.25 ft³ 2ohm ..................With a Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdCP (New, not hooked up yet) The box I have now is 4.0 ft³ Would I be able to temporarily use the box till a get a right sized one..

You could, just set gain a little lower to compensate. Or you can always put some 2x4’s in there temporarily to take up air space to make the internal volume smaller.

Need some sub amp correct information please. I ordered a harness from tacotunes so I can run my OEM HU on my 21 corolla, don't want to splice at all. Have a 4 channel and a mono amp. Looked at my harness from tacotunes and there is 2 bundles of 4 wires for the front and rear speakers but there's just 2 for the sub amp high level. I traced it back to the front left +/- only. Don't I need +/- from both front left and right wires to go to sub amp?? Is signal from just front left good enough to high level into my mono sub amp? I do have RCA out of 4 channel I could go from into sub amp too. What would you do? Thanks man great channel I love it!!!

One set of high level is just fine. Won’t Have alt problems. Better than using your 4 channel signal.

If you were going to connect another mid/high amp then I’d use your 4 channel output. But yeah, one set is just fine. Done many installs where that’s the case. :)

i was surprise that DC audio sub blew on his channel, i mean people not stupid drop $1k on a sub that is not well built. i personally run and like sundowns but DC well known company. They don’t cheap out on their high end products.

JP coming up and doing something great, just like back in the day when rockford, kicker, sundowns, etc first started. People need to stop hating and give these companies a chance. Believe me, give JP a few more years when his name is established and well known. The prices will not be cheap anymore, it will be the same as other well known companies. People need to start somewhere. You need to walk before you can run.

So this summer I'm doing my first build, I'm going to be running 2 15 inch sundown u series to a sia 3500. However, I've been told they can take 2000 each all day, and some people even have bass 5 ks that I've seen in videos. So, is the 3500 gonna cut it or do I need to flip this sia for a 4-5000 watt amp?

Better to have headroom that try to get too much out of too little. You can always adjust gain down if amp is to powerful, but can’t squeeze power from something that’s not there. I’d say get bigger amp ;)

Best bang for your buck are sundown SFB amps. You can get the SFB-5000 for extremely cheap. I’m running the 8k. Resign no problems stays cool all day

Dude your next build with the DC's oh oh oh.... I love it already except for 1 tiny thing. I'm no JP fan at alllllll. So I'd say since you're next level you need to build your lithium bank on the next build lol. Or go with XS Power lmao. He just annoys me so I kid I kid...I mean not about him annoying me but about you building a bank instead. I cannot wait to see this build in action yo!! I'll be watching for the vids

For my next hummer build I have a full bank planned out to run my 6 NSV 5’s. But I got these for my wife’s daily banger for convenience in a light tiny package that will perform as needed. Nothing crazy.

@@NextLevelCarAudio Nice!! Yeah I have an insane insane amount of lithium. I've built so many banks with many different cells and chemistries. You'll save a FORTUNE doing them yourself straight up! I still bought a XS Power SuperBank and am Ioxus UC31 too so I'm not anti everything Power wise from big box.... but I do love me a good ol made by the basshead bank nooooo doubt
