Regardless of who did what, a grass fire doesn't just happen. And, why did the FD leave before the 100mph winds turned this into one of the worst wildfires in Colorado history? Why didn't anyone do anything? It's baffling.

It's possible that, with the high winds with gusts up to 109 mph in that area, the firefighters knew the fire was already out of control and left the shed fire to get ahead of it, knowing there were houses in its path and fight or notify residents.

@@KayInMaine, I've seen that video also. The firefighters on this shed were undoubtedly the "first on scene." Within hours there would be firefighters from various counties across the state helping. I know those first on scene didn't leave with malice in their hearts, but doing what they could under the catastrophic circumstances that would only take hours to unfold.

Totally, I knew many people there... there are so many in this town that would have liked to see them gone. Mainly because they do not actually know all of what the group is about... they help so many turn their lives around... they helped someone I tried to help. They were my neighbors and i appreciate them. Theyve actually helped me too. In my job and my personal life. Fire fighters likely did not abandon the fire, they got called further east to a subsequent ignition point and were trying to outrun the burn, get a line dug etc. Also after years of experience, did the FD immediately know they were hosed (sorry) and the only chance was to get try and get ahead of it? Used to be in the area, good chance embers were out toward Target /Costco almost immediately after initial ignition. Thinking causes.. Besides saaaaaaatan maybe? Do the resident have a wood burning stove, was that an ash pile where maybe a hot ember was dumped with some ash? Do any of the residents smoke? and far fetched, but could the wind and dry air have charged up the wires on the fence? Bunch of static, good gust knocks wires into metal poles, where is a mythbuster?

Six days before this fire there was another fire during a local fire ban at this very same location and the fire department attended. But technically, the ban started on the other side of hiway 93, hundreds of feet away, so they all went back to the station for lunch to let the twelve tribes continue to burn a large pile of railroad ties that fateful day. I suspect that the ties were the old shed and the new shed is also no longer around. Dagnabit. Alex, for $200 I'll take a half ton pile of railroad ties that weren't quite done burning yet, even after six days. Reported fires at this location go back a long time and there are many reports called in by concerned neighbors. With that much prior knowledge, it would behoove the fire department to just check it out when the winds were only at 10 MPH, thermal cameras or probes would have the twelve tribes above ground pool (on the left in this video) used up to put the fire out before it became a very much larger fire. Several should have known this would have been a prudent plan for that forecasted windy day, and they all happen to work for the fire department. Only thing they did wrong was show up way late for the wiener roast when the winds were already gusting at 100. Turns out, they were there anyway, but five or seven hours earlier would have possibly made a very big difference. What's wrong within command over there that being proactive isn't already standard policy? The blame is multifaceted no matter how you look at it. I saw video of power lines touching and emitting sparks and plasma during those winds just up hiway 93 as a coincidence. How many places weren't on camera that day that also could have started a fire? So twelve tribes, the fire department themselves and the power company delivering power in windy conditions (PG&E brownout policies coming soon to an area near you), any others? I'm sure the list isn't complete.

I was watching this one guy who, had the weather radar/satellite map up (live hot spots) and he went over it showing that 1. areas around the area were heating up well before the time they "said the fire started" and it was not just 1 spot, it was a couple then, a dozen or so spots and two spots up north not even connected to the other group.. heating up at the same time before the smoke was vis. was weird. Reg person could spot hot spots and what time they appeared and where. yet it took them a bit to "find something".. non of it makes sense to me, these reports.

I live near there and know for a fact there are bedrock outcroppings within a couple hundred feet (and all around the area) with open crevasses that spew oily smelling smoke. Those coal fires are still burning down there. If excavation was going on it's very likely a new crack was opened up and given oxygen to start burning the very dry brush and grasses next to it.
