If you still have the section of memory foam mattress you cut off, when you get set up with the slide out, pull the mattress down and insert that cutoff piece at the headboard. Then when you leave take it out. When you bring the slideout in it will push the mattress back for you or if the slide mechanism is not strong enough manually move it back. Our bedroom slide is 24" so ours is a full queen.
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
Others suggested that but the added length makes walking around the bed and accessing the drawers very difficult so we will probably just keep it as is because it's more functional overall.

You are very both unique in the KZbin RV world. I am not sure that you realize why. Most channels focus on a single platform or RV class. It is very rare that we find someone that pivots and changes direction purposely. I have recently watched a great many of your videos including those which led up to changes that you made, but I missed your perspective that drove your decision. For example, you have gone from fifth wheel to Airstream to a Super C. In fact, I cannot find anyone else with a Nexus Super C. You talk and people listen. I may not speak for the general audience, I would like your insight on what you have learned as you look back. Your trip to NC was very insightful in taking grades with the Wraith, sounding like you never experienced this with your airstream and diesel truck. I am curious why you chose the Wraith and not another model. Thanks for reading..love the dogs.. and convection ovens are the best!
@WanderingWagners3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment, first of all! We actually plan to cover this topic after we've had the Wraith for a year, which is coming up here in May! We did talk about the changes but it wasn't a heavy topic we hit. We had always had a truck and trailer and just wanted to try out the motorhome life instead to see if it fits us better. Knitting we could always change back if we didn't like it as much. But it is a game changer with how we travel and we really do love it. I've always wanted a super c, and Mike's many years of being a truck driver it seemed to suit us well. Stay tuned for a more in depth look into the 1 year review of the wraith vs truck and trailer! We like the international chassis, the length fits in our garage (a must have) and the price was right especially for a super c, that's the basics as to why we chose a Nexus
@jeepsandrvs4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review/update. We have the same washer/dryer - really like it. The 120v dryer does use a lot of electricity - FYI is paying for your electric at a campground. Also, to combat mildew - cracking the door is recommended. Pantry lighting and pull out shelves is also on our list - looking forward to that video. Also, the convection oven has worked great for us - once you get a accustomed to it - it just takes a long time to pre-heat. Safe Travels. When in Elkhart area - if you make it to Shipshewana - go by Yoder's Meat and Cheese. Incredible food. I just fixed one of their frozen steaks - really great. Ohhh...and Rise and Roll Bakery - YUM!!!!

I love the video guys Question - what is your opinion of the general quality now after being in the couch for a while? I love the floor plan and the international chassi but am real worried about Nexus being a smaller builder and the horror lemon stories you read about from what looks like real credible stories to me. The floor plan and price compares somewhat well with the Thor Magnitude - do you believe this couch is generally better built and something that ages well?
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
We're happy with the quality overall. We haven't had any major issues. There are some minor things that we believe they could have done better, but again for the price we really couldn't beat it. We haven't discredited the horror stories. Nexus has made improvements as far as quality control is concerned. But there will always be people that won't be pleased no matter what. We would buy a Nexus product again. Just don't expect it to be 100% perfect right off the line just like with any other RV.

@@WanderingWagners thank you for the quick response. Totally understand that you will have issues regardless of brand but it's good to know that you would consider buying it again. I love my washer and dryer too. The lack of a stove is something that puts us off these super Cs, but if we could get a propane system installed with the stove it would be a clincher. We have cats so we have to be inventive as to where to keep the litter box so all that extra storage would be handy. The pantry really isn't well thought out! But with a handy husband I'm sure he can rebuild it - maybe with those slide out drawers. Good luck!

Congrats on the new rig but I gotta say I miss the Airstream. It seems like all the $$ in a Super C has to go into the chassis and running gear and unless you spend $500,000+ on one the interiors are so so. The Airstream dumps all the $$ into the interior and it shows in the cabinetry and general quality. I know it is comparing apples to oranges but the Airstream just seemed like it would last for decades and the interior would still be in great shape. Not so sure about these Super C rigs unless you drop half-million or more on one.
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong! We loved the airstream and the great build quality. However, we wanted to try the motorhome life and see if that was better suited for us vs a trailer. The good thing is, if we don't like it we can always buy another Airstream🙂

We are starting the process of selecting a Super C to replace our Navion 24. There a lot of construction features I like about Nexus (being an old "steel" guy). One thing that is bothersome; and honestly we have not seen one in person; is the "disjointed" kitchen. The separation of the sink area to the cook area and the size of sink + counter seems to be smallish for normal needs. Our other candidate for selection is the Thor Magnitude. Lots to love about it's layout and features. Any feedback from you on these subjects is appreciated.

Thanks for watching! We are happy with our Wraith purchase overall and we got a good deal (as we bought before pricing went crazy). The construction is decent, aside from the typical things like tightening every connection because they will leak etc. We haven't had any major issues with our unit but we aren't new to RVing and know a house rolling down the road will need upkeep and checking things often and we fix things ourselves almost exclusively etc. We used to own several semi trucks so we are familiar with the costs and maintenance of larger chassis rigs as well. The construction is not up to par with a ShowHauler! But I can buy several of this RV with the cost of ShowHauler so that's really just a personal budget choice. Would we like to have a ShowHauler? Sure but we don't want to pay that much for it😂 so here we are. Also length was a big factor for us as our garage limits the size we will have (which is a nice thing to keep things in check from being too big). Hopefully this helps!

Yes, I believe door struts are standard on the 2021 models
@rightright65823 жыл бұрын
Door Struts where standard 40 years ago. What is happening here, Nexus? They are not difficult to install nor expensive; Or a simple metal hook door holder(3 dollars). A pull out pantry is just 100 dollars. I think Nexus just missed it and forgot to install the door struts, holders and pull out pantry. This type of short cuts(non-conforming standard , since ever,) makes me wonder what is happening at Nexus, and tjey took more short cuys in more serious things like the slide-out system, roofing, windows, electrical, etc. Good thing Nexus included the compartment door handles and windshield wipers. LOVE YOUR RIG, PRICE RIGHT at around 150k. Did u do a pre-delivery inspection with one of Nexus Techs?

I agree with classicbob44 a easy fix for Mike Lowes or Home Depot should have what you need.

Is the dryer vented to the outside? The non vented dryers do not work very well. The external vented dryers work much better. If it’s non vented, you’re better off air drying.

Great video, I love the straight opinion...do you ever notice that a lot of the same kind of low to poor quality materials and construction techniques are the same on entry level travel trailers all the way through to "luxury" coaches? It is a pet peeve of mine. Price / quality does not rise proportionately. Love the paint scheme and HD IH chassis on yours. It's a beauty.
@WanderingWagners3 жыл бұрын
Year some have better materials and finishes but not what the price tag reflects! For what you pay it should be much better quality but it is what it is😞

Seems to be a limited amount of counter space, where will the coffee pot go. Thanks for the helpful video.
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
We have been putting the coffee pot behind the cooktop. There's a plug in the counter. We have big insulated cups and they hold a whole pot. Then we can put it away. We could also put it on the dinette table if we'd like. There is limited counter space but there is a extended piece next to the sink and when I'm not using the sink I have the covers on for space. Doo far it's been working out alright and I've cooked several meals

So far we've been able to fix everything we've come across ourselves. Having owned several semis and 10 RVs over the years it helps us keep on top of things. Hopefully we can fix anything else that might pop up.

@@WanderingWagners Personally, I gave up on NeXus to fix anything correctly, or, that would stay fixed. I'm working on fixing everything myself also. I've also improved their "design" on several things. Hopefully you'll have great times ahead, God Bless you and be safe out there. Ron

Yeah if it's not right from the factory I don't trust them to fix it. Luckily we are pretty handy so that helps a lot. We have upgraded a few things and will upgrade more before long. Hopefully most of the fixes we did already are the last of them.🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hi guys, love your content. We are hoping Super C's and just at the midpoint of our search and could use some advise. Love the Renegade Vernona/Valencia however at the high side of our price rang. Following NeXus Wraith etc.... can you share some advise?
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
The renegades are really nice!! We looked at them as well but they are much more pricey. Which to some isn't an issue, and maybe someday we will have one. A lot of their models are simply too long to fit in our garage, which is a no go for us. A lot of their color schemes are just outdated as well. Also we wanted at least a propane cooktop vs induction. We really wanted an oven as well but can't win them all. Really it comes down to price and floorplan. There are things we'd change but we have updated some of those things since this video and it's been fine for us. Nexus offers the ghost, which is a model above the Wraith. Overall I think we'd prefer a mixture between the wraith and the ghost. What other advise are you looking for? Just ask and we shall tell!
@EasyStreetGarage4 жыл бұрын
@@WanderingWagners Thanks, we are working with RCD i Pataskala and just trying to decide. Yes, Renegade is at the high side of our price and looking for some experienced advise. Would you say that quality in Nexus meets your expectations?
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
Coming from an Airstream where it was perfect off the lot, with this coach there were more things that needed attention right off the bat, which is more along the lines of every other RV manufacturer. Ours is a 2020 and we'd suggest getting a 2021 because Nexus made lots of quality and personnel changes recently with the 2021 models and they seem to be much better off the lot. There are some differences like the Wraith doesn't have air ride and I think all of the renegades have that so if that's important to you, just another thing to consider. Also renegade has larger holding tanks. We suggest test driving both, if you haven't already. We didn't care for RCD so hopefully you have better luck. They hide fees in everywhere and didn't like when we called them out for it. They add in prep fee and Nexus told us they're not allowed to do that with their products because it's included in the price already. They're pushy as well.

There is one thing that no one ever records. Set up a camera on you kitchen counter or maybe the dinning room table while driving. I would like to hear how loud it is with all the stuff rattling around in the drawers and cabinets.

Found your channel while researching Super C's, and since I was raised in Northern Kentucky, some of your state park videos, bring back memories; although I am partial to Kentucky State Parks, it is a bit of a long drive for a weekend for the four of you. As I mentioned I found you researching Super C's; but the odd coincidence is we are trying to decide our next camper purchase. We have narrowed it down to a Renegade Super C, or an Airstream Classic 33. We currently have an Airstream and do love the quality of the build. Since you guys have had both, even though the Super C is still new to your travels, what are your thoughts on giving up the Airstream for the Super C?
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
Have you had a motorhome before? Do you want to do more distance traveling? We've found that the motorhome has been great for traveling, especially with the pups. The Airstream has better overall quality but we are happy with the super c. The set up/tear down has been much faster in the super c vs truck and trailer. Both are similar that they can be used without slides. We went with a motorhome because we were really interested in seeing if it was a better fit for us vs a trailer because over 15 years we've never had a motorhome. So far we believe it's a better fit and we can still fit just about anywhere we did before. The renegades are great units!! As for Kentucky state parks, we haven't been to any yet, but we've stayed in Kentucky quite a few times. We just went to Wisconsin dells for a 3 day weekend so we aren't afraid of miles😁 let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions, we'd be happy to answer any more questions!

@@WanderingWagners We have not had a motorhome before, we are on our fourth camper in 20 years, tows and fifth wheels. Our plan is to full time, which is where the Super C seems to better fit our needs. I just found your video on the A/C soft start install; living in Northern Utah, our travel is usually at altitude and hot in a vehicle, so we cannot just pull over to eat or shop, leaving our cattle dog in the car. The Super C would allow us to at least stop if we wanted to and run the A/C off the onboard generator. Thank you both for the informative videos; I especially like the hands on installs/repairs, not a big fan of dealer maintenance. For the pups, let them know the West is way more dog friendly, we take Hondo everywhere, except indoor dining. Thanks again.

We are hoping to get out west again soon ( should have been there now but pushed back due to covid) we haven't been west in our RV since 2014! We are really enjoying the super C and it's been amazing for travel and the dogs

What is your opinion of ducted A/C vs single source?

When we want to cool down quick we open the vents on the AC unit to just dump cold air in a hurry. Once it's down to temp we use the ducts for more quiet operation.

Don't throw away that 6" piece of memory foam that you cut from the mattress! When you put the bedroom slide out at your campsite, slide that piece in at the head board. Bottom fitted sheet will hold the 2 pieces together and the seam will be under your pillows so you won't even notice it!

I feel that our model was either rushed at Nexus to be completed or a demo. If I saw the new RV prior to purchasing it and look at this model after some close inspection, I would think it was demo do to the current state. Not happy at all with the quality of the Nexus we purchased and if I had a second chance I would not have bought a Nexus if this is how their RV's are sent to customers. When we did our research, read reviews and watched videos we felt at the time that Nexus took pride in their RV’s but clearly this is not the case. They should have not even sent this RV to Longhaul Trailers in the condition it was. Their slogan should be "Built a Nightmare." My Family still has a new Nexes Viper 25V that is falling apart and only used it once because we're waiting for it to be completed and fixed! We patiently wait!!
@WanderingWagners3 жыл бұрын
That's really sad to hear as we have had really good luck with ours. Granted there will always be things that are wrong right out of the gate or need fixed, that's just the entire RV industry as a whole problem. We fixed a handful of things ourselves and the others Nexus did jump in to fix. However, they are hard to get ahold of! But we were able to get in the shop quickly when needed. I agree that they, and the RV industry as a whole, needs better QC and inspections during and prior to shipment! We've even considered being freelance RV consultants who do quality checks along the way and prior to shipping since my career is in quality control at a nuclear plant and we have extensive RV experience. Could help save customers like you a lot of headaches!
@IGLOOMotorsports3 жыл бұрын
@@WanderingWagners This is my first RV purchase, good to know that possibly the QC in the industry is same across the board. Thank you for comment.
@WanderingWagners3 жыл бұрын
Yes it's definitely poor across the entire industry. Nexus is far from the worst! We've owned 10 RVs over the years. It's unfortunate and should be dealt with and I'm sorry you had to learn this way. The only way around it would be to spend a million dollars but still have to fix things because let's face it, a house rolling down these (usually bad) roads is going to cause things to break naturally. We hope you can get yours fixed up and be happy with it soon!
