Nez0's Bad Shoppe @ Strickly Sidewayz: 3Racing Sakura D5-MR GA Shakedown Gimbal

Behold this glorious footage of the Sakura D5-MR GA drifting around our track :D This is the out of box settings (only had to set suspension spring preload) you are seeing, this car really does perform well out of the box! 3Racing did very good with this updated D5 design. This version in the video is equipped with plastic shocks and those will be upgraded to aluminum very soon. Shoutout to Team Bad Shoppe Driver J. I found the stock shock to bind up like crazy. Upon inspection it seems like the lower seals are made out of a high glass fiber plastic that was digging into the shock shafts quite badly. I was also not a fan of the 3mm screw hub assembly for attaching the wheels. Definitely in need of some upgrade parts. But the foundation is there for a cheap good chassis

0o0o this is interesting! I will inspect my shocks in the near future. So far these seem to be OK. Agree with you about the "quick release" screws...they aare annoying everyone in the drift world and most have swapped back to regular driveshafts that use wheel nuts. D5's are great for being cheap but very cheerful :D

The steering rack on mine feels sloppy. I’m wondering if I didn’t tighten down the screw that holds the bearing in the steering rack enough. Any upgrades or setup you recommend for this chassis? What we’re your spring preload settings? Thank you. Also curious what settings you run on the gyro. I’ve been running assist mode and soft green

Be sure to double check all the screws on the bell crank steering assembly, might have missed a shim/spacer or something didn't seat right, it should be smooth and without slop, mine feels very nice. First upgrade I would recommend is aluminum shocks for sure. Other people have totally changed all the drive axles for the wheel nut spec vs screws. The screw axle "quick release" was derived from the race cars. I can't remember if 3Racing gives you a preload spec or not, i would have to remeasure the preload but you can get an idea from the video. I'll try to fill out a settings sheet soon. Gyro was at 50% i believe in green "assist" mode for quick running. We did try it in red mode and the car became more aggressive.

How about the gain of the gyro can it set 90-100 % without shaking servo when its full ?

90-100% is very high for a gain setting and usually result in violent shaking. This will depend on gyro placement but I generally never set a gyro over 70%.
