Al Davis died in 2011. Eight years later, I'm left to wonder what Mr. Davis would think about the current state of the league. He was a maverick, but he was also a New Yorker and a product of Army football -- would he have supported kneeling during the National Anthem? "The opposing QB must go down hard." But he also advocated for protecting player safety. How would he view the current state of "roughing the passer?" He absolutely despised The Tuck Rule outcome. How would he feel about the current climate towards officiating (i.e., pass interference challenges, what is a catch). And after his feud with Marcus Allen, God only knows how he would've handled the Antonio Brown drama. We miss you, Al.

Al Davis obviously copied the the 1960 L.A.Chargers original shield logo and added it to the Oakland Raiders pirate logo in 1963 because coincidentally the original 1960-1962 Oakland born Raiders pirate team logo didn’t have the shield logo in their original birth year of 1960-1962 until Al Davis joined the Oakland Raiders in 1963 then added the shield logo to the pirate logo.
