The only thing worse then not making Al Davis #1 on this list is the fact that Pete Rozelle is #2 and Paul Brown is #1...Were they both highly successful coaches, general managers, as well as team owners? Who built a world renowned elite professional sports organization from the ground up? Nobody thinks about the browns and the bengals as elite NFL organizations, and while the Raiders have fell on some hard times as of late for decades they held the title of professional sports winningest team. Where would the NFL be without the Raiders? Nobody says that about the Browns or Bengals. Who's team played in 5 consecutive AFC championship games and won 3 superbowls in 8 years and was cheated out of several more due to laughably corrupt NFL officiating robbing the Raiders time and again, see "the immaculate reception", " the Lytle fumble" and decades later "the tuck rule". But despite decades of crooked and corrupt officiating Al's teams still somehow found success. Who revolutionized the way the game was played with a single high safety man bump and run Defense thats still being used in the NFL today? Who created an aggressive offense built around the vertical passing game that was decades ahead of its time when everyone else was running the ball and dinking and dunking? Who put a premium on players Size, Speed, and Athleticism at every position long before anyone else ever did? Did Brown and Rozelle use pure genius and business savvy to force an NFL/AFL merger? Who bucked the chains of the good ol boy club that was the old NFL and started drafting from all black colleges and small conference schools? Who hired the first Hispanic head coach? Tom Flores. Who hired the first African American head coach? Art Shell. Who hired the first high ranking female front office executive in the NFL? Amy Trask. Who employs and takes care of their players and coaches long after they're done playing? How many ex players funerals or medical bills did Pete Rozelle or Paul Brown pay for? Who gave and endless amount of coaches and players a first, second, and last chance when nobody else would dare too? They just cant give Al the credit he deserves because he outsmarted and beat them at they're own crooked game and they still despise him for it. By no means was Al Davis perfect he made lots of mistakes like we all do. Al Davis will always be #1 to those of us with a brain that can think beyond the NFL networks slanted version of pro football history.

@ High Country Bitterroots damn, I forgot Al Davis is hated by the NFL as much as Trump. Gruden is hated like Al also and Gruden is a great coach. Al Davis is the King of the NFL as far as I’m concerned. The superbowl trophy should be named after Al Davis!! Long Live the King 🏴‍☠️☠️⚪️⚫️☠️🏴‍☠️

Yep. After watching a special on Al. It’s come to fruition that I believe the same thing, Mr. Davis was the most single most influential and ahead of his time the NFL has ever seen. More needs to be done on showing off more of the words of said influence.

Al Davis had a lot of success early in his career, but the game changed, and he didn't. By the late 80s, he should have handed off control of the team to a successor.

I love the video by the way. But as I was watching this I couldn’t help but realize how come no one ever talked about how close Gruden got to taking us to the super bowl before he left to coach the bucs. Everyone just brings up that even though he won the super bowl it wasn’t his teAm. But never flip it and ask if we remember his success as a raiders coach before leaving
