It's probably been told a few times in the comments but that NZ player with blood all over his mouth is named Ali Williams and what you see is a broken jaw. For 6 weeks he had to feed almost exclusively on soup, and he throwed a "soup for Ali" call during which he received over 1000 recipes ! He seemed to come to prominence late in his career. Probably because he was at Bourgoin which weren’t a huge club. He was a good player and always good for a hard carry or big hit in defence. However, I think he was surrounded by much better all round players at test level like Dusautoir, Bonnaire, Betsen, Harinordoquy etc. But in 2007, Chabal was the right man in the right place. He was an icon of that World Cup. That stare down was the moment of the competition.
