NFL intros were great back then. In fact, the best ever. There is a reason why so many of those intros are on KZbin today.
@pd99716 жыл бұрын
Hands down by far the best pre-game show of all time! Funny thing about it was it was only a half hour long and they packed in everything you needed to know in those 30 minute! My father would always tell me to come get him when the Greek was on!

Brent Musberger you are looking live and the pots and pans theme on CBS remember it like it was yesterday.
@johnmanier79687 жыл бұрын
I believe this was the first day the "pots and pans" theme was used. For the first 3 or so weeks of 1986, CBS used the same theme they'd used from 1981-1985.

Not just Ray Rice, but several other players (who I couldn't even mention) had issues with domestic violence, as well as Adrian Peterson's child abuse case in 2014.

I always loved this show, especially Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder. 30 minutes was always better than an hour to talk about football.

Wow those days of football were amazing. I use to enjoy cbs going around the league when I was a kid. I thought it was so exciting and fun. brings back ton of great memories growing up in the 80's. what a decade.

The NFL TV coverage back in the 80's when I grew up was a whole lot better than it is now. No constant "bottom line" scrolls with scores or fantasy football updates. No "Sunday Ticket" as of yet, whatever part of the country you lived in is what you got that week & since I lived in the DC area since my birth in '81, my parents TV's were locked on channel 9 WDVM (Now WUSA) for the NFL Today or Channel 4 WRC for NFL Live, and then at 1 for the early games. I wish CBS could go back in time for their halftime and postgame shows when they update the scores and highlights. Red for AFC games, Blue for NFC games and either Green, or Silver for Interconference games.
@rockvilleraven10 жыл бұрын
***** On NFL Sundays in DC, you either watch the Redskins or Ravens 80 percent of the time, same goes for Baltimore. The markets overlap. There is a Ravens bar in Glover Park and a Skins one in Fells Point. That is about all there will be because most people would rather watch the games at home.
@RichardGustason9 жыл бұрын
I remember being a kid growing up in Colorado and being a Raiders fan, it was a treat when I was able to watch the Raiders. It either had to be when Denver didn't play at the same time or CBS would cover an inter-conference game (which, sadly, also had to happen when the Broncos weren't playing). And agree, seeing these would make football so much more fun for today's fan.
@cfoster819 жыл бұрын
I won't forget those days as well
@cfoster818 жыл бұрын
+rockvilleraven Yep at times when the skins were on channel 9 & now channel 5 and the Ravens had a game start at 1pm and either team was at home, like you said, more times than not, since the 75-mile radius overlap, either team would be blacked out & have to listen to the Ravens game on the radio. I wish we could be granted the same policies that are in place in New York City for the Jets and Giants & in the San Francisco/Oakland bay area for the Raiders and Forty Niners. Also, up thru 1983, the Colts used to kickoff their home games games at Memorial Stadium at 2pm. I wish the NFL would bring back the 2pm kickoffs, especially in the central time zone and let the Ravens do their home opener starting at 2pm

No, it's more like Bob Costas was the Brent Musberger of NBC. The two competed against each other as pregame hosts back in the late '80s where CBS's The NFL Today was well ahead of NBC's NFL Live in the ratings.

@manuginobilisbaldspot4243 жыл бұрын
No coincidence that Marino's best teams after 1985 were in 1990 and 1992. They Dolphins defense finished 4th and 11th in points allowed. Under Shula, the only other time the were 11th or better was 1995. So yeah, peak Marino was absolutely wasted.

My favorite pre game show ever! 30 minutes of Musberger, Cross, and the Greek. Nowadays, 2 hours of boring crap.
@mygirlpiper6 жыл бұрын
Michael Pelak Yeah man I agree Back then " less was more" - We got simple coverage with great structure of the NFL football. We knew Sunday's it was CBS and NBC 30 minute pre-game shows with both networks would alternate each weekend of which network would carry the featured double-header games and every team played on Sunday except the featured Monday night game ' And then we would look forward to the halftime highlights from Sunday's games on MNF." - Their was a captivating mystique they of the way the NFL packaged their product - Today with the over the top saturation and somehow you don't feel satisfied AS compared back then, less games on tv. BUT somehow it was fulfilling - Remember the tv blackout rule if your home team did not sellout the stadium their would be no local game coverage of your team. I guess the word we're looking for is " simplicity" and I guess that's why it was more enjoyable - Today it's complicated and more In Your Face and not as enjoyable waiting for those Sundays and Monday's as we did back then " It Was Special Time For Sure."
