I played college baseball and we had a young coach (who was also my frat brother). I knew and respected the line at all times. He didn’t. At first, he was like because he was young AND we were frat, he would coach me up a little harder and he might have to cuss some. Cool. Respect the game. Respect the line. But we started losing AND he was losing control over the team. As for me, I was technically not supposed to play that year because of a torn ACL/meniscus. He convinced me to play with a brace and all I’d do is rehab and the BP. Cool. But once guys started being ineligible, he told me that I had to start practicing ON THE FIELD…..a mere 4 months after total knee reconstructive surgery. Then the asshole said that my PT was dependent upon my play in practice; which was 100% against want my surgeon and head trainer agreed to. One day at practice, Coach came to practice heated. The day before, he tried to flex his power on some of our starters in front of the cafe…and it backfired on him. So instead of suspending those guys, he didn’t do a damn thing. So I’m in right field and I misplayed a ball on a soggy outfield (afraid to cut on a wet field 4 months after ACL surgery). This MF cussed me out in front of God and everybody. But he didn’t stop there. He called me a “Dumb MF” and said that he’d kick my ass. I still didn’t say anything. But when he said that my 1yo daughter deserved “better”, I absolutely went NUCLEAR on him…including calling him a coward for allowing star players to openly disrespect him in a public setting, but choosing to come after me. In the end, nothing happened. I got chastised by some coaches from other sports that I respected and I made an apology for calling him a “Punk B!tch”. That was also the last time he ever said something personal like that to me in a team setting.
