Doesn't mean that his current situation is working out, because it isn't. Let's be real, he inherited a loaded roster that has been on the downturn ever since. 21 other teams have as many playoff wins as them since 2011, which was only his 4th year as a HC. They've had 9 or fewer wins in 5 of the past 6 years. He's Marv Lewis on a more storied franchise with more media love.

Everyone seems to miss the fact that the 49ers offense is Jekyll and Hyde when Trent Williams isn't playing. There is a common theme in all 4 losses. Williams goes down, the run game is no longer dominant, the play action game is no longer scary, and they end up in 3rd and long where Purdy is forced to try to push the ball down the field under pressure, and they score less than 20 points a game and turn the ball over regularly. All this Purdy/McCaffery MVP talk was/is ridiculous. It's painfully obvious who the MVP of that team is.

The 49ers offense did absolutely nothing after William's was hurt, aside from a garbage time TD. I'm not saying they would've won without Williams getting hurt, I'm just pointing out how bad their offense looks without him, no matter who they're playing.

I doubt anybody wants to face the Rams in the play-offs, even at home. Rams at Niners week 18 should be a great game. And Philly will need to really get their act together because they could easily be hosting the Seahawks and for whatever reason, they can't beat Pete Carroll. Just lost to the back-up QB vs Seattle. Dallas and Philly could possibly be one and done this year. That's insane.

Second time he's gone through that cycle this season. The first was after the 3 game losing streak. Other players and teams that have been through it are the Bills and Josh Allen, Tua and the Dolphins, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Lamar has barely been mentioned as an MVP candidate this season and after one game where his defense generated 5 turnovers the media is virtually unanimous that Lamar wrapped it up in one game. If the Dolphins beat the Ravens on the road, the media will be back to is Tua any good, or is he carried by Tyreek Hill?@@nklin6

A couple of reality checks about Purdy… 3 of the interceptions were the results of passes being tipped up into the air. Hard to blame that on the QB. Also, the 49ers outgained the Ravens so they did move the ball. Finally, you have to wonder how effective Jackson would be if he was being protected by a third string offensive tackle.

lamar will be the weekest mvp in a long time if he wins, people say he does the most for his team but i dont see how thats true, dude has an elite defense, he doesnt got to do much, he doesnt have 12 wins with his stats and a subpar defense. If we are talking who does more for their team, is josh allen and its not particularly close. As a 49er fan ill always be biased and say purdy or cmc should win but realistically there are several guys id give it to before lamar.

@@DesolationGamingYT Oh I agree, I took a look and saw Baltimore has 6 wins where LJ has fewer than 200yds passing. I don't think any other QB in the league has that kind of luxury. I know the dude is great on the run too, but he's not really put the team on his back there like he has in previous years either. Bills are definitely more prone to rise and fall with Allen's play. He's had some pretty rough days too though this year, I think I'd still like to see a non-qb take it. CMC or Tyreek both up there in my books

Many people won't like this, but Cam Newton was basically a 1 year wonder. Won 1 MVP, got to a Super Bowl and LOST, and that's about it for his career. He doesn't have any reason to flap his gums on other QBs and their play style. Cam had some talent, but gee, Trent Dilfer (a game manager?) won a Super Bowl, that;s one more than Cam.

Cam will always be remembered for making a business decision not to dive on a loose ball with 4 minutes left in the Super Bowl. He was always a low football IQ QB and a front runner. What he says about other QBs is meaningless.

Then 4 years later he won his ring, so maybe for certain players a good vacation is another viable option for them to clear their heads.

Lamar is a GREAT football player. He is not the league MVP this year. His passer rating before last night for the season was 69.5. He still misses too many open receivers. If Tua wasn’t my qb I’d still want LJ though.

Kyler will probably never be considered an elite QB, but nobody can take over a game in short (heh) bursts like he can. The Cards have their QB situation settled. But beyond having a good QB who can randomly limit break into a great one for stretches, they are arguably the single least talented team in the entire league. Even the Panthers still have a pretty good defense. The Cards just need too much help across the board to try & start over at QB right now. So if it's not gonna be Marvin Harrison Jr. at #2 for them, then they should probably just trade down, possibly a lot, in order to secure an all-time haul over the next couple years in an attempt to address as many needs as they possibly can. Because my goodness they have *so* many.

They won't. Jacksonville caught the Ravens slipping late in the game last year also. The repeat didn't end well for them. Miami is either going to win a close game that is competitive throughout or they won't win. If they let the Ravens offense jump out to a huge lead like they did last year, this defense will not allow them to come back in it.

Miami is too injured. Not enough people talk about how the entire OL is backups, minus 1 and 1 out of position. With Waddle out, Ravens can crowd the line and shut down the screen game the Dolphins will try to run. As a Dolphins fan, it's clear this will be a blowout.

I figured with so many teams losing and playing poorly it wouldn't have been that hard to hear something pro Dolphins today. I guess Vegas and the media are so desperate for the Bills rollercoaster to be involved in the playoffs that they're trying to will Miami out of existence. Personally I'm fine with it though. for the record - the dolphins received absolutely zero flowers for beating the cowboys. so far all i've heard is "they're going to lose to the ravens so who cares" and "but they didn't win by enough" or "their offensive struggled" or "it's just dallas". basically any way to avoid acknowledging them as quickly as decisively as possible. bills barely beat a bad chargers team? AFC East title guaranteed let's all froth at the mouth about how good they are.

Everyone seems to miss the fact that the 49ers offense is Jekyll and Hyde when Trent Williams isn't playing. There is a common theme in all 4 losses. Williams goes down, the run game is no longer dominant, the play action game is no longer scary, and they end up in 3rd and long where Purdy is forced to try to push the ball down the field under pressure, and they score less than 20 points a game and turn the ball over regularly. All this Purdy/McCaffery MVP talk was/is ridiculous. It's painfully obvious who the MVP of that team is.

@@Floridaman1780_ The Ravens rushers started getting to the QB more easily once Williams went down but the Ravens D held that offense to 12 points WITH Williams out there. The Ravens offense also scored 17 unanswered points to push the lead to 21 in the 3rd quarter. Sorry but you can't run your way out of a 21 point deficit.

@@nonya6022 the game was no where near that out of hand by the time William's was injured. At the time I believe it was 11 points in the third quarter. Plenty of time to stick to the gameplan and no need to panic and try to force the ball downfield. Not to mention he is just as important to pass pro as he is to the run game. All 4 of Baltimore's sacks happened after his injury. I'm not saying they would've won if he wouldn't have went down, but once he did the chances of a comeback went from unlikely to almost impossible. Niner's offense is stagnant to say the least without him.

This game was settled at the line…Ravens Defence and their OLINE were amazing

Part of the protection Jackson got from his OL was because the 49ers were basically mush rushing him to maintain lane integrity so he couldn't escape the pocket for big runs. I think they overdid it. I think Fanzio will apply more pressure with blitzes instead of letting Lamar stand back there all day.

Regression is a harsh word.... John just game planned to minimize purdys strength. His processing..... that speaks volumes that a head coach like John Harbaugh has to game plan for your qb. Add in a d line that was in his face all freaking night and you get that game last night. It was not a good showing for purdy .. but does one game really erase everything else he has done all year and last? Come on. The kid is still in his early second years worth of games. I think maybe you see coaches game plan for him more but purdy is also going to have to learn from these things. It's what separates good qbs from great ones... and I hope he can continue on his quest to get better.
