Any kick that hits short of the landing zone - treated like kickoff out of bounds and ball spotted at B40 yard line; play would be blown dead as soon as kick lands short of the landing zone Any kick that hits in the landing zone - must be returned Any kick that hits in the landing zone and then goes into the end zone - must be returned or downed by receiving team - if downed then touchback to B20 yard line Kick hits in end zone, stays inbounds - returned or downed - if downed then touchback to B30 yard line Any kick that goes out of the back of the end zone (in the air or bounces) - touchback to B30 yard line

This 100% needs a Part 2. Some other really good moments I can think of off the top of my head: Ted Ginn Jr. gets back to back TDs against the Jets. Joe Auer scores on the first kick return in Dolphins history. Michael Spurlock breaks the curse and scores the first kick return TD in Bucs history. Randall Williams opens the game with the fastest TD in NFL history against the Eagles. There's way too many good ones for just one video.

So many of the best in the business in this compilation: Hester, Hall, Mitchell, etc. Younger viewers might not remember this, but when Hester was at his prime, as one of the announcers said in the clip "You just kick the ball out of bounds and let them take it at the 40". Even if Hester went the whole game without a return he'd still have a major impact on the game since teams felt compelled to just punt or kick it out of bounds rather than risk having him return it for a TD.

Many are upset by the new kickoff rules, but I find them extremely exploitable and interesting. The change had to be made because in recent seasons many kicks went to touchbacks. It will be up to the staff to know how to exploit them and make them as spectacular as those shown here. We already had some interesting things in the preseason, I want to see what they can do in the regular season and in a few more years.

I was home on leave for Xmas for the dan Connolly kick return. I was stationed in Hawaii from 06-14. We were frozen tailgating at the Lafayette house! We had one grill and one fire pit goin. I remember how many people were wicked pissed they missed the kick return, because they were grabbing coffee/hot chocolate at the half 😂 My friends and I laughed our asses off!
