So glad Larry Allen was fortunate to have John Madden commentating that game vs the Colts...here is Joe Buck’s analysis: “Emmett Smith.... touchdown... no flags”.

In 14 years in the NFL, Larry Allen was a pro bowler 11 times, and a first team all pro 6 times. His 3 non-pro bowl seasons were his rookie season, his last season, and the 2002 season when he was injured and only played in 5 games. He made pro bowls and first team all pro at Right Guard, Left Guard, and Left Tackle. EDIT Rest in Peace, Larry.

In 1993, I used to work as a Doorman/Bouncer at a bar in San Francisco. Several of the other Bouncers were Football players from San Francisco State. Emmitt Smith’s Hall of Fame speech was deeply appreciative of that fact, yeah. Or, of the whole-team effort that was necessary for his (admittedly legit) greatness. He had screwed up the toe on his lead foot, bad enough that he eventually needed surgery, the thing with that is it directly affects your ability to push off with your foot and accelerate, so when he slowed down and bit on the feint (turning his body inside in anticipation of a short in route or hook), he was screwed because he couldn't turn around and accelerate back to full speed fast enough to keep pace with a very young Marvin Harrison.

That Colts vs Cowboys game is the game where the Colts asserted themselves as a contender. Their impressive run during the 2000's started with that win against Dallas.

@@pats4dawin106 nah. Emmitt was good in general. Great actually. Sure many can shine with an O line, but some are only enough. Gotta remember that the cowboys didnt have this o line for long. Thats why aikman retired early cuz he kept getting beat up. But look at his runs. Broke lots of tackles. His moves were quick, balance was strong. He had strength all around.

Larry Allen anchored the most decorated O-Line in NFL history. The 1995 Cowboys O-Line combined for an NFL record 29 Pro Bowl appearances and even though they played 25 years ago, they remain one of the biggest O-Lines in league history. With all due respect to John Hannah, Allen went on to become the best Guard in NFL history. In 1995, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin had their best seasons, and the O-Line only gave up 18 sacks in 16 games.
