Top 10 tight ends of all time: 1. Kellen Winslow: The GOAT tight end at ACTUALLY PLAYING THE POSITION. Best hands end of any tight end ever. Best route runner in tight end history. 2nd best mismatch creator in tight end history. Revolutionized the position by adding the elements of mismatch creation and lining up all over the field. 2. Rob Gronkowski: The best mismatch creator in tight end history. Excellent runner after the catch. Great hands. The biggest contributor to winning in tight end history. Had insane peak touchdown rate averaging scoring a touchdown in about 2/3 of his games and holds records for most touchdowns in a season by a tight with 17 in 2011 and most 10+ touchdown seasons by a tight end with 5. 3. Travis Kelce: Wonderful route runner and runner after the catch. Has insane peak yardage rate. Only tight end in NFL history to average over 70 yards per game. Holds tight end records for most 1000+ yard seasons with 6 and most yards in a season with 1416 in 2020. Excellent contributor to winning. 4. Tony Gonzalez: Holds tight end records for most First Team All Pros with 6, most Pro Bowls with 14, and most career yards with 15127, which is 6th amongst all players. Excellent hands and route running and was deceptively athletic in his prime. Not a great runner but had great leaping ability and a great mismatch creator. 5. Antonio Gates: Holds tight end record for career touchdowns, which is 7th amongst all players. The best tight end ever in goal to go situations. Fantastic runner after the catch. 6. Shannon Sharpe: Best tight end ever at reading defenses. Wonderful runner after the catch. Was the biggest contributor to winning in tight end history before Gronk came along. Held both tight end yards and touchdowns records at the time of his retirement. 7, Ozzie Newsome: Had hands of glue. Was willing to take contact down the field. Never missed a game due to injury. Held tight end record for career yards at the time of his retirement. 8. Jason Witten: Very dependable hands and certainly knew how to get open. Holds tight end record for career games played with 271. He's only 8 and not higher due to being a possession receiver as opposed to a weapon. 9. Charlie Sanders: Had great hands and made great acrobatic catches. Furthered evolved the position from Ditka by adding the athletic elements. The early the prototype, the first real athlete at tight end, Sanders was even nicknamed "Charlie Deep" 10. Mike Ditka: The pioneer of the position. His 1076 yards and 12 touchdowns in 1961 made him the first tight end to have a 1000+ yard or 10+ touchdown season. Appropriately was the first tight end inducted into the Hall of Fame. in 1988. Honorable mentions: Todd Christensen, Dave Casper, Jimmy Graham.

Dallas Clark and Marcus Pollard are the best 1,2 punch pass catching TE’s in NFL history! They’d be hall of famers in this era where offense can win championships! Colts management should’ve done better in the early 2000s getting better defensive players to make Colts unbeatable and they’d have at least 3 to 5 Superbowls for Peyton Manning 🏆 🏈

NOPE That'd be Tony G. Gronk was dominant for a stretch, but wasn't dominant for as long, and Kelce is very well on his way to surpassing Gronk in a lot of record categories. Gronk has beaten his body so bad that he probably plays another 3 years (if he's lucky) Kelce on the other hand could easily play into his late 30s and still be productive. Just going off of how each guy takes care of their body. Gronk takes care of himself now, but has done way too much irreversible damage.
