It's practically the same car. The abandoned version is just a skin, nothing more. Back then when I made the review, I got so much shit on how my review is irrelevant because the abandoned version is the real M3 GTR. The files clearly shows it's just a skin, nothing else and I'm shocked how many believed that from just buzzwords from EA's marketing.

Puh-leez. Remember that the GTR is based on the M3 E46 body. Even if you don't get the correct engine sound, having it as a body kit option rather than a totally separate car makes more sense from a game design standpoint. There`s no reason to have 2 cars that look nearly identical. (And yes, before you ask, I am aware the same cannot be said for the 911 Carerra S and the 911 GT3. Still, they took out the 2015 Nissan GTR and reduced it to a body kit on the 2017 model.)

We finally got this bad boy back. It just sucks that the V8 + Supercharger + Straight Cut Gears got replaced with the default 3L in-line 6 engine that normal BMW M3s have. Also if you look closely at the interior, it no longer has the red Recaro seat, the stripped interior, roll cage, fire extinguisher where the front passenger seat used to be, nitrous canisters where the rear seats were, the racing steering wheel, and the manual transmission. Now it's all what you would see by default on Autotrader or what not and the transmission is now the SMG.
