The video of Fury’s training session looks dubious. It looks like an old 10 years ago video taken with an amateur camera. The photo of d cut doesn’t impress me: there are softwares out there that a tech guy can use to create that photo. The whole story is shrouded in doubt & secrecy. Tyson Fury thinks we are mugs to believe his antics. Now it has dawn on him that USYK can cause him problems so he needs more time to adjust & figure out a strategy for d fight or better still dodge d fight absolutely by frustrating all parties involved. This fight may never come on again. Fury will be hoping that somewhere in between, someone comes out of d blue & beats USYK. But Usyk is very clever, currently none of d boxers around has what it takes to beat USYK.

You can have a view on anything, the problem arises when it’s done disrespectfully. Adam doesn’t do that to anyone in my opinion. Simon does, but his disrespect is towards Joshua. This does surprise somewhat because of all the heavyweights to come out of the UK onto the world stage, Joshua is the most respectful and for that reason alone deserves better than being “called a flat track bully” which of course he is not. Fury however is very disrespectful, to opponents, fans, and anyone who basically doesn’t suck up to him. How can we use an MMA guy walking into Boxing as a measuring stick to compare the 2020's to the 60's/70's when there weren't any MMA fighters to measure against? This doesn't tell us that quality is worse as people love to reel off names from the Ali and Iron Mike era now, but weren't favourable to those names at that time either?! It more tells us that Mixed Martial Arts is more transferable to Boxing than Boxing is transferable to Mixed Martial Arts.
@jack28aug10 ай бұрын
i agree u can't use mma as a measuring stick, but u can use the weights and amount of fighters involved, heavyweights are far too big now which makes the pool of good fighters much smaller, meaning less fights, less worthy opponents, and less quality overall, imo. Nearly every other weight class has gone up in quality apart from heavyweight.
@joewhite2210 ай бұрын
Yep. Simon loves to bring up the word "context" to assist his arguments but very often excludes it for many points he makes and he excluded it here. Also heavyweights are bigger than they've ever been in this era. It's already a very dangerous division with the power that these guys punch at. Let's not pretend that past greats haven't been troubled by much lesser fighters before - Lewis with Rahman, Tyson with Douglas, Cooper putting Ali on the canvas.

@jack28aug great point about the size of the heavyweights and how it effects the pool of athletes in the sport. Also, boxing has slid down the sporting totem pole. The pay is much better and a safer bet in the NFL or NBA especially for the larger men. You could have 20 AJ's from the NFL and 10 Fury's from the NBA so the pool is generally smaller, although Usyk being a traditionally typical sized Heavyweight is showing boxing that you don't have to be oversized to win titles albeit being somewhat of an anomaly at this time. But good points!

. Instead of holding Tyson Fury accountable, Simon Jordan prefers to criticize the entire division. The AJ/Fury matchup was set to happen, but Fury's defeat in the arbitration case against Wilder changed the course of events. AJ initially accepts Fury's 60-40 offer, however, Fury later decides to rescind the offer in order to pursue a fight with Chisora. Fast forward to 2023: Fury unfairly offers Usyk a 70-30 split, despite Usyk holding 3 of the 3 belts. Is there any scenario that you can think of where a the fighter with three belts is being told that they should be satisfied with just 30%? Usyk called Fury's bluff by accepting that offer, but ultimately it was Fury who walked away from the opportunity to face him in the ring. The undisputed fight has been confirmed for December, with Fury set to face Ngannou. However, due to Fury's underwhelming performance in the fight, it is decided that the December undisputed fight will be rescheduled for February. Unfortunately, Fury sustains an injury and gets cut, which inevitably results in further delays for the undisputed fight. Everyone knows who is holding the entire division at ransom but Jordan and other Fury disciples would rather courts 'the heavyweight division' instead of calling out Tyson Fury for his Tom Foolery.

Quick reminder that Adam Catterall was a failed DJ that did local radio and got no experience whatsoever when it comes to boxing and MMA 👍

Just a reminder that he used to DJ in Gatecrasher (you millennials might need to google it) BBC Radio 1 and Ibiza.

If the ufc was around in the generation that Simon was referring to & it was throwing elite fighters out from all over the world like it is today then I think the boxing heavyweights would have had just as many problems as they possibly will now. The only real difference i see is boxers are trained to be fit enough to do 12 rounds & the power of heavyweight punches counter acts that advantage to a degree. I don’t believe a ufc fighter in the smaller weight categories could ever challenge an elite boxer as the power isn’t there & the boxers fitness will always prevail.

I do not agree with the guys at all. Even if Tyson comes in great shape & Usyk at his best. It’s Usyk all day to win the fight. Usyk will stop him in 9/10 rounds

You cannot walk through ngannou he is a 6'4, 19 stone man with good boxing knowledge and a good chin

Ngannou is not a boxer, though. Joshua should win comfortably.

Are we really getting the best versus the best….? It’s a discussion to be had that you don’t get the best of the best, if they’re boxing in an environment that’s sterile. I’m not convinced Joshua would have got up from the knock down from Klitschko if the crowd was based in Saudi - no massive atmosphere etc. it’s the difference between playing at Wembley and playing down your local park. The best versus the best, but in an environment where you may not get, the best from the best.
