Thanks, man... Unfortunately, the issue on the 7th fret, turned out to be a little more than just glue on the fret. The factory have tried to fix it by filing the imperfection away, so much that the fret is now scalloped 😲 I have have contacted Thomann about it.

Looks good. All the little things are easily fixed. Even the fretboard can be made darker with black shoe polish applied slowly if you want. I feel all those thing just makes it more personal. 😎👍🏽

What is your experience on flatwound strings, Peter? Have you tried Harley Benton's flatwounds?
@notecrackervideos3 жыл бұрын
I have only used D’Addarios XL in 10’s and 11’s. But the Harley Benton’s are probably fine. It’s a question of taste. Flatwounds makes your sound warmer and feels very nice to play, but I only have them on two real jazz hollowbody’s from Ibanez. Not on my Epiphone Casino or other 335 type guitars. But again, it’s a matter of personal choice. There are no rules. I hope you get the problem with the Epi solved. It really is a nice guitar for jazz and blues. Never had any problems with Epihone before. 👍🏽

Ok, I'll think about the whole trying out flatwounds again, after all they are pretty expensive strings. It will be interesting to see what Thomann replies to my mail. I know I can return it with no problems, but I kind of want to keep it too if they will give me some money back.

That’s a fantastic looking guitar, Carsten! My next guitar will be a jazz box. I used to have one, but sold it to buy something else I wanted more. These Ibanez semi-hollow bodies are so sweet. I know George Benson plays one, and his tone is outstanding. Have fun playing jazz on that beauty! Peace, dude! 🐰💙🎸🎶🤝✌️

Thanks for a nice thoughtful review I'd think flatwounds (at least 11s, maybe 12s for strong fingers) would sound great- for about 10 days! They go dull pretty quick. However if looked after not too bad you can play for hours and feel no pain at all. Great for jazz of course but don't expect much unplugged. I may acquire one of these soon so thanks for an intelligent review

Thank you so much for the nice words 👍 I haven't tried flatwounds yet. This would definitely be the guitar to try them on 🙂

You got your Kenny B & Django backing you up for support there. Good choices. You'll be into Larry Carlton & Lee Ritenour in no time if you're not already! I've had a couple of Ibanez that needed a pinch of fret work for the ends. Usually a good set up person can make it top notch. Good choice though IMO. WOW! Yeah those are pretty hot PUPS. I don't rem them being that hot but the one most similar I had was a single cutaway. So maybe different PUPS. Interesting.
@thegaindane3 жыл бұрын
I honestly haven't listened to a lot of jazz my whole life, so I'm a novice in that genre. I do remember that my brother and I used to listen to Lee Ritenour on his synthaxe back in our teenage years, but I can't remember the song titles now. Apart from the issue on the 7th. fret, the rest of the guitar is great, and I hate that I probably have to send it back.

Carsten goes jaZZ !!! 🤘😎 Is that Ibanez made in Japan? 10 strings are close to acoustic guitar strings. I would try 09 strings. It would make bending and finger vibrato easier. Rock'n'roll, 💪😎 Jarkko/MyVinylBar
@notecrackervideos3 жыл бұрын
9’s would be horrible for jazz on this guitar. Just my opinion. ✌🏽
@notecrackervideos3 жыл бұрын
What I mean is that there’s not much bending and finger vibrato in jazz. Most jazz guitars have 11’s for a reason. You want those thick warm dynamics on the neck pickup. ✌🏽
@thegaindane3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Buddy 😁 This guitar is made in Indonesia, it's not one of the full blown Japanese Ibanez guitars 😬 I don't think 9s are heavy enough for flatwound strings. I think they have to be a little heavier. But I'm not sure. I know nothing about flatwound strings 🤔
