What Happened on Coney Island || Story / Lore || The Division 2

Washington DC is finally in a state where it is somewhat stable. Now its time to get on the offensive!
After securing the perfusion bioreactor from the DARPA Labs, the next step is to start mass-producing the antivirals. But in order to do this, the right people are required to run the project, so that it can be safely distributed among the population.
Vitaly Tchernenko is one of the very few surviving expert virologists, who also had first hand experience working with the creator of the original Dollar Flu, Dr Gordon Amherst.
His skill set would be invaluable for this task.
And it just so happens that after all these months, that the SHD has managed to locate him.
For the last 8 months or so, Vitaly has been a hostage of Aaron Keener.
However, now it seems that the Black Tusk have managed to get their hands on him.
They are keeping him on Coney Island, in a holding cell in the middle of the local ballpark.
But how did they get hold of him?
Keener surely wouldn’t have just handed him over to them
Has Keener now teamed up with the Black Tusk?
And what the hell are the cleaners doing there?

Your earlier clips were great too, don't be too hard on yourself. I was kind of hoping that Keener would return as a kind of antihero. Hurt by the betrayal resulting in him developing a desire to strike back or remove a dysfunctional government. He returned to NYC as he saw the threat of Black Tusk and wanted to find a place where he can build up his own forces to fight them. Eventually he may end up fighting alongside the Division, A temporary alliance....an enemy-of-the-enemy-is-a-friend kind of way. Just another means to eventually get to his endgame. (could fit his MO) He may have wanted to work with Black Tusk initially , and offered Tchernenko as a result (since he has no use for him now) But ultimately, he realize that their goals may not align and he may end up having to fight them . If indeed his goals were to bring down the establishment as a revenge, Black Tusk would just end up filling the void, would be worse. My suspicion is that he is, in a twisted way, still a patriot but has no qualms sacrificing a few people to get what he may feel is better for his country. Just theory crafting....but I wouldn't it be interesting to fight beside him, not knowing when he will betray the division (again)?

Cool idea, but that doesn't change the fact that he still hates The Division more than any other faction. We represent everything that was wrong in the old world to him. His allegiance has been to himself since the events of the Dark Zone, and I don't see him suddenly overcoming his vendetta for SHD because of some higher purpose, even for a moment.

@@mrmacju1530 Yah, you are right. Especially with what was revealed for the upcoming expansion. My suspicion has been that he may want to do it out of pure self preservation. It all hinge on what the devs have planned for the powers that are pulling the strings of the Black Tusks. But seeing how the Black Tusks has been foiled at every turn. They don't seem like they would be an obstacle for Keener.

I think that keener gifted the Russian to the shd. He's been in hiding for about 8 months then all of a sudden pops up with the Russian knowing full we that the shd would strike. At the same time he arranged for the cleaners to be there to throw black tusk of balance. Increasing the chance that we got him. Which resulted in the operation going smoothly and drawing the shd's focus back to NYC. Keener's no good guy but I think he's fully aware of the pieces moving behind the scenes. And in his own way is still on mission. But he can't trust shd as it's clear whoever is pulling the strings has access to shd networks black tusk and the remaining government. There is more to this theory and I still don't get his end game . P.s love your content.

The story of the Division games is one of the best in recent memory to come out of a game of this type and the fact that it is somewhat based in reality makes it that much more fascinating. Great video, as usual. I enjoy your content and it's not cringey, really. As for Keener, you had me wondering if he is still an anti-hero. He is affected by what happened to him but not so much as to lose grasp of reality. He is remarkably good at manipulating anyone as long as that works to advance his plans. Whatever those may be. If it wasn't for the huge spoilers of the release, I would have been more than happy to theorize. But I'll put it this way. It would be interesting if we can get what he knows about whoever got this whole thing in motion from Keener's own investigations, to ensure we can defeat them using less questionable methods and for once a federal agency can be a force of good, order and justice.

I have been playing the expansion and i know what the ending is so im going to spoil it if you go down, NGN, if you need info, go look Okay so, you need to kill Aaron Keeners fellow rouge agents and when you kill Aaron something happens, ANNA finds a hostile communication and this happens. You find out that Agent Faye Has gone rouge and is now working with the Black Tusk, I was also weirded out by the coms and what it said in it, it basically says that another agent has gone rouge and was working with the Black Tusk and Faye was confronting that agent saying how good a agent he was and the agent says back that Faye was too attached to the division, stuff like that.Aaron also activate something on his watch, just play or watch the ending for more details.

First of all, and that's something that should be said, fantastic LORE videos. They help a lot and the work you put patching all this story together is awesome, as it is they way of telling the whole story. With that said, I personally think (and I'm probably wrong, but let's try XD) that Keener has found where the problem is, who the mastermind behind green poison, perhaps even the SHD creation or even before, a conspiration so big and deep that in the end brought him, not eactly crazy (he may have become a mass murder, a villain, but he's not the joker, if you know what I mean, he's not a crazy anarchist), but more extreme in his ideals. My thoughts are, Keener actually unfold the truth and he saw how the division is actuallly the worst kind of villain here. We are unadvertedly helping the bad guys, regaining control from anarchists and independent groups from every zone and hading over the masterminds. Maybe he thinks we know that, maybe he convinced himself of that, and became obssesed with the idea so his plan in the long run is destroying not just the division, but the entire infrastructure the SHD has behind.

I don't know if I would agree that taking down the black tusk was that big of a risk for Keener to take. The Fact we're going to New York To Finish Keener is kinda sad for me Here's Why: 1. All keener wanted was an Extraction for those Dark Zone Civvies But Both JTF Command and Division command denied resulting the deaths of the civilians Therefore making keener snap 2. Keener had a point where considering the division was the last line of defense and was the best of the best but wasn't allowed to do their jobs resulting a few agents killed in the dark Zone 3. The Division are around to ensure continuity of Government but you can't have A government without the people The Old world is Gone and never coming back with Factional Warfare happening across the state How do you expect the world to be back to normal 4. im kindda dissapointed in that they actually made this "out of charachter"-change to Keener... the mystery what his agenda was - "could he be the "batman" of Division", is kindda out of the window, he is now a bad guy, and they pretty much spoiled that we get to kill him at the end of the expansion... I for one was hoping for the "not the hero we want, but the hero we need"-narative... imaging if we at the end had to choose sides, are we SHD og Rogue and the missions/PVP where changed slighty thereafter... imagine a Destiny's Gambit game mode, where u got to "invade" another players mission at randoms points, like the opposite of the "Call for backup"-feature :-D

"the mystery what his agenda was" I thought they made that pretty clear in that last batch of Echo messages he leaves after you find where Amherst actually developed the virus. He says that the governments have failed, that the likes of the gangs we've been fighting are the ones who'll survive and he plans on being at the top of the heap, using Amherst's research, the DNA printer, and Tchernenko to create a deadlier version of the virus to effectively hold the world hostage. I think if they had any intention of him being a vigilante anti-hero, you would have a mission or so where you help each other out to tackle something neither could do alone. Or, there would be more echoes and evidence showing him still trying to help, but not playing by SHD rules. You wouldn't have him with his whole "Join me or die" position with other First Wave agents, he wouldn't have so easily betrayed the LMB when we stormed their base. Simply put, what happened in the Dark Zone broke him, psychologically. He's lost any sense of empathy or morality, preferring what he thinks is a "survival of the fittest" future for the world.

What if the Hunters were after Vitaly? Or even maybe the stopping of those Virals? I really want to know what they're place is in all of this mess. Back in Survival when I was playing the fuck out of it, they were using SVDs and AK-74Ms, so I thought they were the Spetsnaz's version of SHD Agents, meant to stand toe to toe against SHD agents since we were responsible for their Scientists' kidnappping and were killing Rogue or not Agents for the purpose of finding clues without hesitation, but then in 2, from the pictures and videos I saw, they were using US Military issued weapons but was still against all the factions(But looks more against the Agents) and still ignores Civilians. Just what do they want? And why are they also in Coney Island?

Yeah, I'm not liking the villain tone... I keep my hopes this manipulation is part of a bigger picture and I don't espect to fight him and kill him in NY. Would be sad to loose Keener in the future. And would give some direction and sense to the future seasons.

If we have to kill Keener in some mission, then the game will become boring. The most interesting person in the whole Division universe is Aaron Keener. If he dies, then all fun is lost forever, and we will need a Division franchise reboot.

There's a lot of people we got introduced to that we don't know much about. Ellis was being directed by someone to cooperate for becoming President, he's still out there. Bardon is still out there. I also don't hope we kill Keener and he becomes an antihero with Bardon and we're faced with new and existing threats.
