If you take a look at one of the animated trailer for WoNY, the LMB was working along side the JTF to guard the exchange before they got overran by Rikers. (Safely say, all of them were wiped out and the rest were working for Black Tusk)

It would be a cool theory but I doubt it. If that were the case, why are we the ones hunting them down rather than the opposite? Most of them hide like little bitches and we have to go to 50 different locations, shoot at 35 targets on top of windows, flip 67 switches between 0500 and 1200 to get ONE Hunter to spawn. Doesn’t look like that big of a clean up crew to me lol

I've noticed hunters have the watches of rogue agents as well as normal agents, some hunters seem to have orange AND red watches. I'd seemingly believe they're a hard wave, designed to wipe out the first & second waves, and set the division anew.

Man it’s good to see this. I always followed your Division stuff. God it’s been a long time. Since the first game (since the Underground really) the Hunters have been the most fascinating part of The Division. It really took off with the first 12 Hunter masks in the Div 2. Still one of my all time favorite secrets\lore\quests in any game. I was so hooked on all the possibilities that could stem from the Hunters. It’s just hard to stay invested for such a long term payoff. Destiny 2 really suffered with this same thing for years. Bungie is just now kinda putting bows on all the big cliffhangers that never got a proper payoff. So I say that to say this. Massive can most definitely do some very cool stuff with these guys still. The Division 2 is primed to co exist and dominate with games like Destiny 2, Borderlands, and Outriders. The potential is staggering. The Div is such a great game. Really wanna see it take off again. We’ll see how Heartlands goes, and hopefully will hear more on the Div soon. Thanks man. Awesome video !

Hunters could not have been the third wave agents. With the Resistance update in TD1, audio collectibles confirmed that they have been around since the first wave activation (or maybe even earlier than that, there is a theory about their involvement with April Kelleher's husband murder) DZ Supply drops introduced from the Underground update have been suspected to be SHD resupplying them (Faye Lau even mentioning how those supplies were enough to arm a small army) Other theories believe that they were secret bodyguards of Rick Valassi, allowing him to move around NY freely and spread misinfo. A woman investigating Valassi were kidnapped by unknown assailant after she apparently discovered something. Speaking of which, I'm getting a vibe that what McManus doing is similar to Tom Reeds from SC: Conviction, his own splinter cells (Hunters in this case) handling all the wetwork and eliminating opposition (the agents). While Black Tusk serves a cover for their operation.

See there's one theory that I've always had that wasn't mentioned much if at all I feel like the hunters are former US military special forces such as delta and green berets and Rangers because of the superior tech and tactics plus it was a little more inforced when a leader said the hunters either had relations close to the US military or used to be apart of the military

Thankfully we did get more info on them. From what I could tell with the latest release and end of this manhunt, we see the events unfold where we fight through Black Tusk forces and take down an enemy named Jack Bonney. We've actually seen Bonney as one of Schaeffer's special squad members such as at the echo where Black Tusk is scouting the White House for a Division agent. During the final manhunt raid, we see a hunter out of reach but just in sight and he never attacks us. Telling from both the comm chatter AND the audio files that were decrypted, we can speculate that Calvin McManus has his own project of Hunters that he has specially trained and command over, after one of his hunters was made KIA by us, he asked to borrow some of Sokolov's troops to become the previous Hunter's replacement. Sokolov names some of her special troops that she could offer him and he chooses Jack Bonney. The final manhunt raid was all just a test setup to see if Jack Bonney could make the cut and become a new hunter while an already official hunter was spectating Bonney's events to see if he was worth making the cut. Fortunately, we kill Bonney and the Hunter makes his leave likely to report back to McManus that Bonney was KIA and they still need a replacement. It seems as though the Hunters have also been on the True Son's backs for a while now as well.

TL;DR New info, McManus may be the whole reason Hunters exist, Jack Bonney who is a Black Tusk member and under the orders of Sokolov was given a test to see if he could become a Hunter to replace the one we killed and he failed. Hunters have been spying on the True sons for a bit.

Something about the hunters in D2 that has always peaked my interest is the reason behind the complicated ways they are each summoned. I know as a game mechanic they are meant to be puzzles to solve and switch up the pacing. But lore-wise, perhaps each hunter has their own way of being contacted by the other hunters and when it turns out to be the division that has completed the "contact sequence" the hunter is surprised and fights more in self-defense as NGN put it. Just a side comment, I'm still very new to all the lore.

The likelihood of them being the Third Wave seems more and more possible the more we learn. Especially them being from elite military units that already had access to better technology than regular Division agents. I just started a new character from the beginning. He wears the full covert Hunter outfit. My head cannon for this is that during the seven months between Division one and two he specialized in tracking down agents who went missing or went rogue. The watches on his armor are there to commemorate his fellow agents who either died in the line of duty or lost their way. His mask however is a trophy that he took off a Hunter he killed in revenge for them killing another agent. After his encounter with this Hunter he now keeps an eye out for them, and will relentlessly pursue them to show them that they aren’t the apex predators they think they are.

I've never understood why after killing them they just magically reappear on rooftops in certian areas only to vanish almost as fast as you spotted them (your HUD will flicker if ones in range, and look for the cloud of smoke when they vanish....) This games lore is being messed with waaay to much 😓 And I'm amazed you could finish the manhunt NGN, alot of ppl are having serious problems with crashes on chang and then kelo isn't there in Whitehouse for 3rd key (if this happens log out & back in as it sorted it for me) Shocking how bad the game is right now 😓 Keep up the excellent lore vids 😎

My thought process is that the hunters you see around the map were meant to be a sneak peak at the hunters back before anyone knew how to spawn them, avoiding conflict and disappearing to add to the mystery. Now my main explanation following the lore somewhat is that there are multiple hunters who all wear the same masks as the ones we kill, just to add the thought that the bastards are undying and will always be there. Since I doubt the hunters would have such few numbers that a few dying will cripple their operations.

Love the content as always! I feel the way the devs. treated the hunters throughout most of Div 2 was a mistake. They're festooned with SHD tech taken from their prey, but now they're not hunting us? I guess if they have some other mission entirely that's under Cal's orders, then so be it. While story-wise that makes sense... it's not exciting or fun and that's why I say it's a mistake. Hunters should be OUT THERE WAITING FOR YOU, in other words, HUNTING you. No warning, you're just on your way to a control point or landmark or event and suddenly your HUD starts to glitch and you realize you are in serious danger. IMO that's how it should be.

Two words: Crusader Shield. OP it in a tank build with decent crit hit chance. There's loads of build guides on YT for this. Having a drone is good for keeping him harassed and/or taking down the corrupted SHD tech he deploys whilst you walk him down using an SMG and Shotgun. Now go and blast him. He's easy to kill. @@dancingbear1881 Just don't attempt it on heroic or legendary lol. Do it on normal. Take your gear and focus on gear sets that increase armour and health - ideally you want armour and fast recovery of armour too as these can be buffed with other talents such as having full 100% armour recovery upon armour break which is also buffed by a very short reset time in the event it breaks again. You can also roll talents for it and use skill mods to increase this buff for both you and your shield. I think there's a bit of gear that also gives you 500% melee damage too lol and I was using that years ago to shield bash people once I broke their armour in CQB, shield bash them and then switch to secondary weapon (shotgun) and finish them fast. There are loads of methods people have online, most of them are better than mine because they're done by paid content creators who have the time to work this out because its their source of income also. Anyway, all the best Agent. 😎

Also this makes sense because they only collect division watches and not any hyena, outcast, true son or btsu trophies. So agents are their menu. Rolling with Bardon or division high value targets sets them up to kill agents who arrive.

i'd love to see a manhunt introduce rogue ghost recon and 3rdechelon agents. They could have a 'good guy' from each agency help us hunt them down for story/audio logs. Be cool to know what they're up to in the division universe. Our clan lore is essentially "the division has been compromised. You are to rendezvous with other splinter cell agents in D.C. and infiltrate the division to access the situation. The fifth freedom is in effect"

Looks like my theory might have been mostly right. initially I was thinking that Mcmanus was head or atleast highly up in SHD maybe overseeing there version of the internal affairs and the Hunters were a highly specialized unit under him to combat any agents that might have gotten out of hand. But having them possibly as another clandestine organization that reports directly to the Secretary of Homeland.

Are we gonna talk about how division agents wave 1 had obsolete gear to begin with and so did second wave compared to the hunters. The hunters are a clean up crew to make sure no more go roage

I like to think the first wave agents are all dead and or rogue agents, in the div. 1. as for the hunters, they've been in the div1 DZ since survival dlc dropped. Id like to think they've been situated and in control of Cal behind the scenes this whole time.if you recall there was an event in div 1 years ago with a random rogue agent in the open world, he was a first wave agent that went rogue and disappeared till you get to fight him.i think he was apart of Faye lau defecting as well. maybe was one of her minions in div 1 cuz she was injured. over all I think the hunters were division agents that didn't go rogue but were selected to defect, and work for Cal. the best of the best indeed, and this is also apart of the reason the second wave was activated .

I keep hearing you mention "Delta Company". I believe you mean Delta Force (US special forces). Delta Company is a Ghost Recon fan/content creator organization created by Ubisoft.

I'm still pretty new to division and don't know what went on in division 1, but I believe that hunters, since they work for homeland security, are preventive measures. Stalking agents in division 2 but not engaging them. Like on stand by for when a agent High value agent goes rogue, like us, the sheriff, they certainly don't want another keener incident and would target rogue agents, or agents before they go rogue. I feel it would fall into their jurisdiction as internal affairs and terrorism, as for their anger and disapproval towards the agents, possibly keener and other rogue agents made such a huge mess that they prefer to take us down to keep things from getting worse. They do claim tech and such from other agents but I believe that hunters have some back door into the shd network and isac, not once has isac been able to detect a nearby hunter or a hunter stalking, and the screen displays some feedback when being stalked but nothing on the radar. The only time isac does pick hunter stuff up is when a shd skill is detected. I'm not certain if there is a contingency plan for the division or the division going rogue, wallers action was wave 2 in response to wave one going rogue and other things. Possibly homeland needed their own contingency. A lot of people, civilian and government, don't like or approve of the division, we have a lot of fire power and legal power since we have the judicial authority, the tools and power to enforce it, and the tech to see it through, if we got too greedy, we could go rogue and cause problems, there isn't much stopping us other than morals. As for agent Edward's. I am unsure. My theory doesn't have much evidence. But possibly a hunter went rogue, killed him on accident. Or preemptively killed him when he was doing something wrong or plotting something or about to go rogue. As for the rogue that worked for Schaffer, I don't know. Possibly Schaffer was loyal to the country and the homeland saw him as a potential candidate. And possibly had orders to protect him. But I'm very very unsure. I only saw that hunter before getting BLASTED and respawning and somehow it skipped that encounter to capture schafer.

But if the hunters are working with homeland, then their might be corruption in homeland for a director to want to create a team of elite killers to take down the SHD, I always had a weird feeling about the hunter deceit.

Hoping that Shaefer will come out of his coma, likely by the end of S11 but possibly sooner. Given that the new Descent mode is being set inside DARPA, it's extremely likely they are getting ready to at least partially lift the veil at last on the true nature of The Hunters. They've *got* to be some kind of anti-Division fail-safe, especially since we know that SHD tech was being developed inside that same facility we'll be exploring, but that there was a whole lot of super top secret projects being done far below in the lower levels. That would explain why the Hunters are able to directly counter SHD tech. And we still know precious little about Anna, not to mention the fact that Keener somehow knew about all of this or at least a hell of a lot more than what was let on. Personally I am hoping that we're gonna get some big revelation that proves Keener was at least partially right and we shouldn't have been so quick to off him.
