bro, your replays helped me out. I won the rookie cup flawlessly 4 shutouts in a row, and i've gone like 25-0 since. Minus losing 1 game this morning. I had the D down for this game, but your shot tutorial helped me out for finding which zones were the hot spots for goals. Keep it up man

I was having massive issues with Live The Life mode this week. I decided to play on manual, and not playing an NHL game since 09, it was a learning experience. Took me an entire season to figure out some of the tricks. Of course this was after getting traded with Camaleri from the Flames to Vancouver to Monarchs during the playoffs HAH

Excellent video! One thing that so many defensemen in the EASHL don't do is force their man to the outside, taking away the slot. Obviously on a 3 on 2 you're limited, but when you're playing heads up with a forward, he should never get inside position on you. GREAT tips.

Problem now is people have learned to use this little stretch shot to score from the outside. I'm starting to learn you are almost better off sending them to what ever side forces them to shoot with the back hand.

Another amazing tip that has worked for me and many others is to turn auto-backskate off, you may want to play a few unranked games before you jump into the real thing because it's a lot different playing with it off.

Any tips on leveling your stats? What game mode to play, etc? I keep finding myself getting matched up with people who've played over 400 games, while I've got like 5, and my character just cannot keep up with their stats; when I go to body-check a guy, me with full momentum, and him at a stop, I'M the one who ends up on the ground, it's just ridiculous and teammates just keep yelling at me. Making this game hard to enjoy, really. Great videos man.

I'm 63-7-1 on my record and stick checking is the way to go on defense, checking is hardly reliable this year to me, I've tried it and plenty of pucks get past with a trailer on their guy. When I face a strict hitting team, I usually can pass the puck around a few times and I get a breakaway. It's all about positioning heavily, even if thy crush you, usually a trailer will follow and lead to good chances.

Good tips. I just don't get why EA insists on taking away the tools of the defensemen. Your right, positioning is the only way you can play defense. Poke check has been basically taken away, stick lift has always been risky, pass block was taken away after NHL12 and I've noticed shot block is even less effective. The checking is a bit better, the skating no better but they seem to have muddied it up for forwards too. It makes the game feel like bumper cars. The team at EA just doesn't get it.

It is beyond frustrating that these still go in. I try and play tight D but all it takes is to be out of position once and you're screwed. I like playing real hockey, moving the puck around and getting a clean shot off, but the goalies stonewall you on superstar and all star. Meanwhile you might as well have an empty net. I play on pro and i'm up by 9. There is no happy median. People online do nothing but try to get the cheap goals. Add in terrible a.i. And bad passing just for "fun".

The main difficulty with me and NHL14 is that I switched to that game from NHL2K9 on Wii. That game had a lot less physics and was pretty shit (but still a lot of fun). I was VERY good at that game. Now in NHL14, I suck ass and give up an average of 6 goals game against CPU and online.

I ran out of space in my last comment. Any tips on stick lift? Is it worth using at all? For me it's just a 'get a penalty' button. Also, protect puck button, I noticed you used it a bit in this video and I realised I NEVER use it. Which might explain why I lose the puck so much. I just suck at this game, I lose so much in HUT versus :(

At 3:40, your opponent isn't trying to make a move on you, he is doing the typical icing glitch and trying to let the puck slide past the red line. Love watching people like that pay for that.

Everytime i get into the zone,the defense always just steps up and crushes me with a hit. Also,its hard to get around them. But my question is,when i gain the zone,how do i get around that hit. And dumping it doesnt work because of the bouncy puck.

Why do we need to play defense? A good aggressive goalie will stop every puck, with or without defense.

So, positioning helps, but what about bogus AI? My computer players don't do anything close to what the other team does. Example, I will try to carry the puck in along the boards and they will double sometimes triple team me. My team lets them in and plays conservative, although I have my pressure maxed and set to puck side attack. Also, their poke checks never miss, their passes always connect, and their AI always jumps on lose pucks before me. I have a stacked team with my lowest overall at 85 and chemistry at 94. I'm the only person who seems to be having this problem...anyone help out? Winning seems to be by fluke and I drop 2 in every 3 games.

Hey Bacon, how do you hit hard in the game, or body check?? I have looked all over and all I see are clips of players flying. I can't beat the computer on pro, I get smashed every time!! I refuse to believe that the right stick is all that is being used. The hits I do are nowhere near as hard as the computer or some online players. Please help me in this area.

idk if you still need help but its all about how much your player weighs, how fast they are skating, try to hit them head on hitting them the same way they are skating is obviously not as good, and it helps to have the feet moving

That shot from the center of the slot, right between faceoff dots made me stop playing goalie online. defense doesn't take away the middle, and the shot goes in NO MATTER how well I'm positioned. Super annoying. Now I only play goalie if there is a 5 vs 6 that needs a goalie.
