I don't understand how who think you made a bad pick by taking a medium Top 4 Dman while the others are like LOW 7TH DMAN!?!? I know they have the better overall, but there still will become actual dumpster! With a potential Top 4 Dman, at least he has way more trade value. Also, I genuinely don't understand how you make your picks 🤔. For example, I wouldn't even consider for a second a sure LOW BOTTOM SIX guy! He's gonna for sure end up max 75 overall.. At this point, I would consider someone who the scouts doesn't know anything about him : at least there's a chance he has better potentiel. Finally, if you ever pick a top 9 forward/top 6 defenseman in the first two rounds, it's automatically a bad pick since the pick itself has a much higher trade value. If there's nothing of interest, I would personnally trade the pick. Just a quick opinion, nothing against your content, I love it 😁

FYI - I find that in NHL 21 franchise mode if the players does want a contract extension, you are able to sign him for much less than in 20’. Usually about 85-90% of what he’s asking. Sometimes even less if you match his desired years wanted !

Normally when I draft a 73-77 ovr medium elite who says he’s one year away, by mid season he’s already an 80+. Just something to look out for as you could get him playing in the playoffs or something

OLDŘICH ŠLÉGR? MABYE HE IS SOM KIND OF FAMILY WITH CZECH STAR DMAN! Jiří Šlégr is a Czech former professional ice hockey defenceman, and was a member of the 2001-02 Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup championship team after being acquired in a late-season trade. Šlégr was inducted into the Czech Ice Hockey Hall of Fame on December 12, 2019. Šlégr won a gold medal in the 2005 World Championships and 1998 Olympics for the Czech Republic, and a bronze medal in the 1992 Olympics for Czechoslovakia. Along with the Stanley Cup he won with the Detroit Red Wings in 2002, Šlégr won all three major trophies in ice-hockey, gaining entry to the prestigious Triple Gold Club. Hey Brent, could you check for gems next time in the draft? Sometimes there are some gems worth trading up for. Also sort by potential highest to lowest and see if there’s any guaranteed med elites that you can take in the late rounds (even if it’s a goalie).

Brent, make sure you have good scouts. 1 for each division in the NHL AND the AHL. 4 coach for both leagues. This will be KEY to making trades for players who actually fit your coachs line fit. Also if you're looking into a guy, fully scout him BEFORE you trade for him. Its the only way to greentree he'll work well on the team chemistry wise.
@JohnathanHarwood3 жыл бұрын
Great call on the new coach! Zion's chemistry on the 1st line is ALOT better so you have alot more options to get a +5 now. Shane Wright will fit in great on that first line in a few years 👍

Also potential matters so much more than rating. You can pick a 70 ovr med top 9 and they probably wouldn't crack 81 ovr. 51 ovr med top 6 (or top 4, like your fourth round pick, Johnny Schaefer) will most likely be a solid 82+ ovr player in 6 years. You definitely made the right choice with Schaefer

just a hypothetical thought that came to my mind during the draft portion of this episode that i did not previously notice that the franchise guy was a power forward. i find this interesting and significant because part of the argument for picking zion bertuzzi was that we didn’t think we’d see another franchise caliber power forward for chemistry and it got me thinking to what could have been. hypothetically, if we went back in time in which to select max kazov the sniper, and then perhaps alaska may have been bad, won the lottery and picked the franchise power forward in this draft having us end up with both a franchise sniper AND a franchise power forward. don’t get me wrong, love zion bertuzzi but this franchise mode could have shaped out to be much different to where it currently is at

Stepan hasn't been playing ever since you took out Arizona from the league. No one has picked him up in FA. To get the +5 for Hedman, find a DFD that fits the same scheme fit and it should work. I was afraid that that was gonna happen to Wennberg. He’s a medium top 6 forward, so dropping in overall was inevitable for him. Shane Wright was the right (😏) pick. Even tho Savoie is 1 overall better, if you look at his stats, his offensive awareness and puck skills are weaker than Wright's. If you wanted a #1 center who produce at an elite rate offensively, Shane was the best option (even if his defense isn't the strongest, the points he's gonna put up will make him *technically* always in the plus [+/-].) *Btw, I had the chance to have many times Savoie and Wright in some franchise modes, and Wright always became the better player.
