I'm an Avs fan and obviously happy for the result but I feel bad for the Devils. Missing their top 2 centers and Hughes' amazing start to the season kinda wasted now. I hope they come back soon, the Devils offence is one of the most exciting in the league.

All lines fulfilling their assignments. Great rebound from the ugly Vegas game. The Colton hit is a shoulder check you see in every game but Hughes decided to shy away from contact making it look uglier than it would've been. Yes the crosscheck following was not good and he can serve his fine or whatever for that. But Devil's aren't innocent either such as Hamilton shoving Woods face to the boards after play. Anywayysss good game 🔥

I’m not gonna complain about the call itself but I certainly disagree that it was “clearly boarding”. Edit: also this is the NHL and these are grown men, “smaller and weaker” should have literally zero influence on how calls are made

COL caught a huge break with the Devils missing their top 2 centres. Good comeback by the Avs, but their goaltending situation is starting to become reminiscent of Edmonton and Toronto’s. Hopefully Frankie is back soon.

Avalanche took a too many men penalty, then while shorthanded Ross Colton took a boarding penalty against Luke Hughes, got challenged by Timo Meir and proceeded to cross check him in the face. So he got the two minutes for boarding and then a 5 minute major for crosscheking on top of it. So the devils scored on the too many men penalty and then got the full remaining 7 minutes.

Avs played dirty, Devils didn't show any character to counter and it got under their skin and they were caved in. Missing top two centers, porous defense and average goaltending didn't help. Avs showed why they're Stanley Cup winners, Devils need to take some notes.

Hey @sportsnet, its ok to show hits and dirty plays, you know so we can see why there was a 7 min Powerplay. You're not protecting anyone, people regularly see dead corpses and blown off limbs on all the non-stop israel/gaza/ukraine coverage on all the news channels and social media platforms, so please, stop making people waste time to have to search youtube for what actually happens in the game. Same thing with Oilers and Canucks game the other night, completely missed what actually happened in the game.

@@Mulukkiswell even when they did have Hischier and Hughes the Devils were still averaging over 3.5 goals AGAINST per game… Definitely damaging having them out but, the Devils defense and goaltending has been horrendous to start the season. They’ll figure it out, just some growing pains after coming of a season where they overachieved. Happens all the time. They should be back to how they were last season around late December or early January.
