Pay $200 to go to a game and the NHL uses beer league officials. It's like going to rock concert and the light show isn't working. Getting ripped off paying that much for games and even the cost of watching games on TV is going up.

The holding never was called a penalty according to the penalty summary of the game. Garland only received a 2 minute roughing penalty the same as the other players who did nothing.

European youth coach here: Embellishment in European Soccer is horrible, one of the reasons is why I prefer watching NHL. Connor and Myers both getting 3 game suspension each is a joke. Garland even goes without suspension? - Connor got held for 13sec straight, facing possible injury to his shoulder/elbow and is cross checked as well. - Meyers, provoking with a late hit, a harder slash, cross checks Bouch right across the teeth without warning AFTER Bouch puts out is mouth protection. - Garland is holding, pushing, drawing....McDavid for 13 sec straight, is alomst dislocating his shoulder (watch Mo Salahs shoulder in soccer), cross checks, but goes without hearing and without suspension? Suspension should be: longest period for Myers, then Garland, then McDavid Like: 5 games, 3 games, 1-2 games

As well, at 1:03 Garland cross checks McDavid as McDavid cross checks McDavid. Both heads are forced backwards, and both men then fall to the ice. It is clear, when slowed down. And the close up views show it better. Both should get the same suspension.

Its so frustrating because I feel like the Oilers are being punished because of their proficiency on the power play. If the refs call all the penalties that should be called, they fear they're deciding the game but they're seemingly oblivious to the fact that by not calling anything they're deciding the game. I also really hope that this doesn't become a thing where teams just go over to him and outright tackle him. I hope/expect someone to beat the hell out of Garland to remind him that though there may not have been a penalty on the play, he can't get away with that. If the Oilers don't have him pay for that, other teams will do the same tactic.

My dude, you have oilers biased. I was at the game, I'm a season ticket holder for vancouver. I'm a canucks fan but definitely not an aggressive one, I rather like this oilers team as well. I'm not going to argue that the officiating was great, because it wasn't. But I would say the bad calls went both ways, the oilers definitely got away with a number of missed calls. And the argument that mcdavid isn't protected is ridiculous. I mean, what's the expectation? Just don't touch him? The interference penalty he drew was very week. He's also not that clean of player, I have personally watched him hold and slash guys and he never gets called. He also just chicken winged a guy against the wild. And if you want to get into the refs not being faster and calling holding penalties. The oilers should have got a holding penalty before all of this, I didn't see who but an oilers was holding Peterson against the glass at the other end. Why wasn't that a penalty? Then the oilers are on the pk with about a minute to go and none of this other stuff happens. If it's OK for one team to take out one of the other teams best players by holding them, then it's fine for that team to do the same regardless if he's sports best player.

This got out of control because Wes just decided he’d let the clock run out instead of calling a penalty because he thought it would be easier . . The game goes to the buzzer so make a call who cares if there’s 10 seconds left . It’s his fault it got out of control even though I agree those cross checks were brutal

full disclosure, Canucks fan here. No call on Garland is outrageous. Think about it, it wasn't a bad play even if you get called so you've got a guy literally TRYING to take a penalty, and no call. Can I just ask, if that's not holding, wtf is?! Having said that, Myers and McJesus simply had to get the same suspension. They did the exact same thing at the same time. Not sure about 3. I think 2 was the sweet spot, but league can't suspend them differently with a straight face.
