@@Charlie-qe6lv Can't blame the goalie for these goals. Too many passes in front of him and open players doing what they like right under his nose. I get that Hill and Bobrovsky would've made more saves, as is their form right now. But I wouldn't be putting this loss on the goalie. Ottinger was perhaps a little shaky in other games, but this time his teammates hung him out to dry.

Wild were very banged up and primarily a defensive team, Kraken was speed up and down and neither team was great on D. Now VGK with big, experienced D Men just had to stop dilltdallying heading out of their zone. Taking time, thinking they were setting up some plays let Dallas forecheck 3 the other night, which was a disaster. Tonite, they beat Dallas to most pucks, won the 50/50 fights, turned play straight back up the ice before Dallas could pressure with forechecks. Backchecking and stick lifting prevented Dallas from even shooting if not blocking them. Great plan, fantastic execution!

Vegas is ruthless in their approach to team management especially in discarding their own players when a better option presents itself. Getting Pietrangelo and Eichel while discarding Pacioretty and Fleury is an example of this. it has gotten them to the Finals again so maybe more teams should follow the Vegas approach.

Max Pac was cap dumped because they could not afford to resign Reilly Smith. They traded Max Pac for Reilly Smith in a sense. Smith I believe is 2 mill cheaper per year. Out of the 3 teams they beat only Dallas was even a challenge. The Jets were easy and the Oilers do not have the goalie or defense. The ideal situation to be in other than Logan Thompson being hurt.

@Saya Nara Minors refers only to the AHL, not the junior or European leagues. You're the one who has to get your terminology straightened out. Seminoff and Wheatcroft are never going to be NHLer's. Stankoven at best will be a 3C or 2RW. Harley should be an NHLer going forward, but I'm not sure he's a top four defender long-term considering how behind schedule he is, not making the team out of training camp last pre-season like he was expected to

Vegas is dangerous. A great mix of size and speed through the entire lineup. I’m a Leafs fan, and there is 1 particular game this season I remember from start to finish (Toronto vs Vegas - Nov 8). It was just impossible to ignore how strong & competitive & DEEP Vegas was that game. Vegas won 4-3 OT in a back and forth playoff-like game in the first month of the season. Vegas only had 20 shots and Toronto played a great game, which added to this admiration I had for them, where they gave us a tough game and still werent at their best playing against one of the leafs stronger games. I also concluded after that game that Vegas is going to be a contender 100%, and i called in my own head that Vegas would defeat Colorado in the final 4 (again this was Nov 8th..just to show how dangerous this team has looked all year). It was amazing to watch..they come at you in waves and every player just looked committed, bought in to going deep and winning the cup. I know they’ve had a solid franchise in their short history, but it’s not until this year where I really became not only a believer, but a fan from a general hockey perspective. I love the work and chemistry and everything else this team has going for them and they deserve to win the cup this year. Even if you don’t like the team, it’s really hard to deny how well they play, how physical & fast they are, how much skill and depth they have

I´m a VGK fan living in Vegas. I appreciate your breakdown of the team and think you did a nice job with your assessment. There´s one ingredient that I think you´re missing, Bruce Cassidy. He came in and immediately started playing with the lines looking for the correct chemistry and combinations. Before game 6, he put Roy back down on the 4th line (where he belongs...) and look at how that line produced! Now heading to Florida it is going to take a couple games for Cassidy to figure out who needs to go where. Probably going to need to put Blueger back in to get more of a physical presence. Also need to send props to the front office for their deadline acquisitions...Barbashev, Blueger, and Quick. Quick hasn´t played a second of the playoffs, but what he did getting Vegas to the playoffs cannot be ignored. He was massive. Barbashev has been outstanding and Blueger has brought the depth and physicality when it was needed (Edmonton). Can´t wait for the finals to begin. What a series it is going to be!!!

But I don’t watch the team Regularly enough to know what coaching tactics Cassidy has used throughout the season nor do I know how Barbashev played all year before this last series which he was really noticeable. But from what I’ve seen recently, both have had important impact on the team success 👍 they contrast the Leafs in the sense of depth and spreading the lineup out vs having 2 top heavy lines thAt NEED to perform every game to have any success. Plus Vegas defense is a lot more offensive and mobile. Definitely the perfect example of the type of team you want to model after in today’s NHL

Boston should have finished them, the Leafs would have beat them 4-1 / 4-2 at worst if it weren’t for stopping everything, and they again he shut down Carolina. I can see Vegas dominating most of the series offensively (offensive zone time, shots, scoring chances).. it’s going to be a matter of bringing Bobrovsky back down, which I think you guys will be able to do. 4-1 Vegas for me

As a hockey fan the Vegas story is amazing no matter what. An expansion team that has never been bad, two cup finals in six years. The only "off" year they had horrendous injuries. Just amazing.

The knights had the biggest unfair advantage for an expansion team in NHL history and took full advantage of it. The NHL made it so teams could not protect as many players just for them. That MAF was not only traded to them for nothing but that Pen even added a 2nd round pick is so lucky. Tons of teams fortunes would have improved with that trade if they could do it. MAF would have had Vegas on his no trade clause but they did not exist at that time to be put on it. I am not sure what the rule is on that. Some NHL teams cap situation is so messed up right now they would be better off having no players on the team at all in exchange for 100% cap room vs just doing what they will do anyway and having no realistic shot at the cup. Congrats to the Knights team defense though it has been great vs every team it has played in the playoffs. I am sure MAF and Max Pac wish they were still on the team.

That stick check at the end that led to VGK's final goal pretty much said it all. Dallas didn't look very good at all except for 2 gritty underdog wins without their captain. That said, despite the bad ending, it's hard to call their season a failure.

The knights team defense makes Hill look so much better than he is. 4 out of 5 Knights goalies have winning records on the season. If I was the Knights I would trade Hill in the offseason to a GM that was as dumb as the play by play guys are at scouting goalies. The Knights team defense played well enough these playoffs to have carried a lot of goalies this far not just Hill. I can see why Laurent Brossoit was really sad he got hurt because he was getting hyped up and now Hill is. Even Quick might have been carried this far had he played and he is a shell of his prime. This is a compliment to the knights defense though.

This was exactly the strategy of the 2011 Stanley Cup winning Boston Bruins. Before you had the opportunity to put the puck past Thomas, you had to get through the ever present trio of Bruins defensemen blocking your shot. Vegas has the edge on D, but Tchahuk and Bobrovsky are on a mission for God Almighty. 😉

I picked Vegas for the cup a few months ago, this game reflects how good they can be, although the Panthers have a remarkable run so this will be interesting for sure

With the Stars offense playing as they did, the Knights could have pulled their goalie for the full third period and still won. When the Knights are on their games as they were last night, the Stars are outmatched. This game was a practice for the the Knights.
