The "Kuemper blade incident" was absolutely bizarre. I've been watching Avs hockey since 1996 (religiously) and ice never seen this happen 3 times in 2 games. Luckily the Avs are scoring a crazy amount of goals, so that one wasn't a difference maker.

I was worried when Mack Attack got injured. Wondering how our team will do. I am not worried at all in 6 games they got 36 goes. That is insane for the avs. I love it :) also the Blade incident was really bizarre but funny at the some time.

Yeah I agree. First NHL game I ever saw was AVS vs Phoenix in 11/95 at AMERICA West Arena. Been hooked ever since. 2 kinda brand new expansion teams, Colorado native in Phoenix… makes sense. Now I am watching the AVS acquire a goalie from Phoenix who comes complete with everything, except working skates. The equipment manager is pissed at Darcy. That’s all I can conclude at this time bc of the highly irregular occurrence of the blades coming off. Both skates were affected… 3x in 2 games…. Yeah he did something to piss of the equipment guys.

History of the Jersey "Jersey" jersey: once, in the 1920's, a team then named the Black Hawks (space included at the time) had a cool jersey. Then, a minor league team in Newark took that same design, played exactly one (1) season, were not good and disappeared. That's it. That's the story. And yet, the whole "21 stripes for the 21 counties in NJ" and "5 stripes for the 5 retired players" is them writing history around their jersey instead of the other way around unless the Hawks were visionaries and were thinking about Ken Daneyko and Patrik Elias in the 1920's. All you had to do was slap the Devil's logo on a black version of your jersey and make a ridiculous amount of money. Instead, you spend three (?!?) years to come up with the Hawks jersey?

According to the post game interview with Yamamoto regarding his SH goal, he said that Sceviour actually kicked it or tipped it with his skate to get it to the inside for Yamo to pick it up. It's very hard to see how the puck actually bounced though with the angles we got.

I went through frame-by-frame with the comma and period keys. you can see how the trajectory of the puck changes after going out of view behind Sceviour and Sceviour automatically turned back into the o zone because he knew he did that. that's crazy.

I feel like goalies losing skate blades has become super common this season. Like Vasi lost his, I think Lehner lost a skate blade, Kuemper has a bunch of times now, its so odd. also cornucopia

Actually i would start looking at my equipment guy! Theres a 1000 skates out there who's the same as Kuemper or close enough... pretty sure none of them break... but theres 1 equipment guy and he failed 3 times in a week...

@@jimrockqc actually there are multiple. Source: the guy who screwed up while being equipment manager for the devils who now plays in my beer league. There's one head manager but he has multiple helpers who handle stuff. But they don't screw up once and continue to do the same thing again. So I vote it's a problem with the blade holder. Might be a specially manufactured skate, just like sticks are custom made for players. A tiny divination and the thing fails.

In Finnish Liiga they disallowed a goal pretty much identical to the Ducks goal against Preds because of "goalie interference". What actually happened was the goalie tapping a forward's skate OUTSIDE the crease with their stick while the puck ping-ponged into the far corner of the goal. However, according to the officials making the call from a video review, the tap (which I repeat: the goalie made themselves) meant the goalie didn't have a chance to make a save. I mean, how can anyone save a shot like that?! The goal would have beem a 1-0 goal late in the 2nd period, yet the other team ended up winning the game 0-1 and qualifying to the finals with the win. THAT was a dang-it.

The islanders whole week was a dang-it! 3 Crushing defeats by multiple goals. Not only the Martin dang-it, but possibly a few others that might have been here! Not even mentioning that HALF OF THEIR TEAM is out with injury or Covid! Possibly 10 different penalties that were horrible or missed calls against the Islanders. It was not a good starting week at UBS.
